I only gave a star because I couldn't post my review without at least one. I went to the Blue & White for the first time ever on 9/16/22. I was traveling on a bus trip to the Mississippi Blues & Heritage Festival in Greenville, MS. This restaurant was recommended to us by a family member that said the food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. The event planner (my aunt) made the restaurant aware back in May 2022 that 48 people would be stopping in on 9/16/22 to dine, and my aunt and my mom were in constant communication with this restaurant (and all our other venue stops) at least once a week via phone & email from May 2022 up until 9/15/22. Our bus gets to the restaurant and the staff acts like they're unaware of 48 people coming to dine-in. The restaurant looks like it hasn't been cleaned since it opened in 1937, ESPECIALLY the restrooms (and there was no tissue in the stalls), they gave us one server and even though she was trying her best, she was overwhelmed. The waitress said the buffet was available even though the steam table was down; she told us the buffet options and said we could just tell her what we wanted from the buffet and the kitchen would make our plates. Half of us ordered off the buffet, the other half just ordered off the menu. No matter what we ordered, all our orders came out wrong, if they came out at all. We ended up having to go to the counter and order directly with the kitchen and wait staff and the orders were still wrong. The catfish nuggets were under-cooked and slimy, the chicken was overcooked and over seasoned, the side dishes were just straight up awful. The salad bar was surrounded by flies. The wait staff lied and said they didn't have catfish fillets but they had them & were only serving them to their "regulars". One of the staff members was outside making a drug sale right in front of the restaurant when we first arrived, and the entire staff looked very unkempt. It took us over 3 hours for everyone to finally get served, some people even had to take their food to go, but it wasn't worth eating either way. Even with all of this, we didn't ask for discounts or free meals, matter of fact, my cousin paid for the entire bus and we still tipped even though we were basically serving ourselves. At one point, some of the bus goers started busing tables in our section in hopes of possibly getting their food faster. It must be locals giving this spot 4 & 5 stars but as for me and my St. Louis family, we...
Read moreHow this place gets the stellar reviews that it does is beyond me. I ordered a simple burger and fries. One would think that such a highly touted place as this could at least get something as simple as this right and put out a relatively decent product but that just wasn't the case. The burger was so small, dry, overcooked, and lacking in flavor that I left the majority of it uneaten. I can honestly say that I've had better tasting burgers than this from McDonalds. The fries were crinkle cuts that clearly came frozen and were no better than anything you can buy yourself at your local supermarket. They were also overcooked and so hard that I left the majority of those uneaten as well. The waitress was very standoffish and couldn't be bothered to see how the meal was or if I needed anything. Once the food was dropped off I never saw her again until she dropped off my bill at the end. All of the dead flies on the windowsills that they clearly couldn't be bothered to clean up sure didn't add to the ambience of the place either. If they leave areas like this that customers can clearly see this nasty I don't even want to venture to guess what it must be like in the kitchen and in other areas that the customer can't see. The health department must be extremely lax in Mississippi because I can honestly say that they'd most likely get shut down in an instant in my state. Eat there at your own risk folks and don't say I...
Read moreIn our top-3 places to have breakfast. If we would go to the Tunica casinos, more often, we would be regulars here. Have yet to try their lunch buffet as we are always heading out of town at breakfast time, so we stop here.
8/31/2021. Have to change our rating :( We stopped here, for dinner on 8/13 (just realized Friday the 13th!). Had a horrible meal! My wife wanted chicken livers - not in stock, so she decided on catfish - not in stock. Her next choice was grilled liver - not in stock! She settled for meatloaf and mashed potatoes. The only resemblance to meatloaf was that if was in a rectangular shape. We should have gotten a hint, when the server (who was not the sharpest knife in the drawer) asked "How do you want it cooked?" I'm not sure I knew there was other ways to cook meatloaf. Their menu touts that all there food is homemade. These were the worst tasting INSTANT mashed potatoes we've ever had! I had the country fried steak - it was a very well done (not good - well done) HAMBURGER! Our original plans were to come back through Tunica and stop for breakfast, as it has always been one of our favorite breakfast restaurant. Plans were definitely changed! We bypassed Tunica and stopped in...
