DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! This restaurant is an awful place to eat! Not only did my hash browns taste like five day old rubber but there is mold on desserts in their dessert cooler! My toast must have been burnt because it was hard as a rock and you could hear the cook scraping toast from the kitchen and when it got to me my white toast was clearly scraped to look as if it wasn’t burnt which is unacceptable. If you care about your customers and the money they are spending to keep you in business, ( especially in today’s world) if you accidentally burn their toast which can happen, cause mistakes do happen, but if that’s the case if you cared about the customers experience while picking your restaurant to eat at, the least you can do is use your common sense and make them new toast! I didn’t feel as if my money mattered and I certainly didn’t feel like they cared about whether I was going to enjoy my meal not just because of the toast but because my hash browns on my stacker were so rubbery and old tasting it was like they made them a week before or cooked them and then froze them and then cooked them again or something cause I barely chew them and then on top of that one of my biscuits were so hard that I couldn’t cut through it with my butter knife! On the way out looking in their dessert cooler there was a cream pie that had mold on at least two of the pieces of pie! Do not eat here!!! Go to McDonald’s instead cause chances are you’ll be sick by the time you are done eating here! I will not be back! If me and my wife could give this place negative...
Read moreMy wife called this place "a time warp where my grandparents would have taken me," and meant it in a good way.
First, the decor is straight out of the 1960s. The seats were all vinyl and matched throughout the restaurant. Because the 4th of July is coming up, the place was decked out in red, white, and blue!
The food, oh the food! My wife had a one piece walleye dinner and needed a box! The portions are HUGE! The single piece was massive (and delicious) and with a healthy portion of hash browns and coleslaw, a lot of food! Myself, I had a walleye sandwich with a large portion of fries and coleslaw. Yes, I ate all mine, but the walleye filet was very good sized and there were a ton of fries (I'd forgotten my phone in the car, otherwise, I'd have documented all this!).
And the specials, oh goodness the special! Two huge boards, one for breakfast and one for lunch! So many good things to pick from here!
All in all, our lunch experience was amazing and we'd recommend the The New Frontier to anyone who'd ask! Great food, huge portions, and...
Read morePros: The food was great diner food. The 1/2 pound and 1/4 pound burgers were made as ordered and delicious. The fries were crinkle cut and crispy. The grilled cheese was pretty basic, but it is a basic diner grilled cheese.
Cons: The waitress. She was the only staff we had interaction with the entire visit. When she poured my coffee, she spilled it on the table and left it there for us to clean up with no apology. When asked for recommendations she offered a fried chicken salad because she only eats healthy. Not so good food service there. She left and we waited more than 10 minutes for her to come back and take our order. (There were only 2 other tables in the restaurant) Our food came out shortly after. She did not ask if we needed anything (like napkins since we had to use ours to clean up the coffee spill), we had to ask. We had to ask for refills.
Overall, a good burger is easy enough to come by, no one needs to put up with such horrible service. We will not return and I would not recommend anyone go there as long as that...
