The Nook — Restaurant in Tuscarawas Township

Seated @710pm - we were one of the final 5 seatings as they close at 8pm. There was a 12 top group was getting food delivered as we were settling at our table and another 12-14 party had good delivered as we finished our appetizer. Otherwise all other tables were 2-4ppl with the exception of a 5 top that came in right around our shortly after our seating.

Drinks delivered & Pork Tots app ordered - food runner delivered at 720pm but we had to flag a hostess down for appetizer plates. Placed entrée orders 725pm. Wife - Salmon with Brussel Sprouts & side salad. (server immediately informs that he ordering device shows they're out of the smoked, would seared be ok? It was.) Asked for no lemon pepper and the garlic cream sauce on the side. Son - Brisket dinner, green beans and side salad, added Sweet Cornbread. Myself - full rack of ribs - comes w/Mac n Cheese, BBQ baked beans and slaw added Sweet Cornbread. Server refilled our drinks once w/app delivery and shortly after taking our order. From that point on she didn't talk to us for an hour. She passed our table to go into the supply closet directly next to our table on 3 occasions. We have never been before and we don't mind waiting on good food, but at 822pm I finally flagged her down & mentioned my wife & son still haven't even received their salads yet. She brings them in 2 minutes. 5 minutes after that our entrées arrived 65 minutes AFTER our appetizer was delivered. Wife's salmon was cooked appropriately, but w/out the garlic cream sauce it would've been very bland. Yes she asked for it w/out the lemon pepper, but some light S/P would've been welcome Brussel Sprouts were just ok, nothing special & no crispness from the sautéing. My son's Brisket tasted bland, dry and rubbery. He was too kind at that point & didn't want to wait for something else after the kitchen was shutting down. He said the green beans were very good. The ribs were very good - nice smoke, good flavor & meaty. The beans were a good flavor mix of BBQ & smoky, unique. The Mac was barely warm & seemed out of a box, nothing about it made it stand out. The slaw was typical like a sweet KFC w/a little more bite to it. Sweet BBQ was good & their Original has a little kick & both good - we didn't try the spicy. Cornbread was cold (not a complaint just mentioning) so we took it home & didn't entertain dessert because of the late hour. Our server checked back 3 times on the food & I did mention the Brisket, she offered to replace it but again my son felt bad & again really didn't want to wait on something after what had already transpired. On the 1st check back after we got our meals the server told us "I checked into it and the reason it took so long was that they ran out of Brisket and had to make more." This didn't really jibe with us because when we initially ordered her device told her immediately that they had run out of smoked salmon. Additionally, if that was the case the kitchen either didn't communicate that and/or she didn't communicate that to us as we could've changed our order or chosen to wait. Also, from what everything we've ever experienced with BBQ especially something like Brisket, when you're out you're out. It's a process that can't really be rushed, but that may be why his was sub par? It also doesn't explain waiting an hour for salads and not updating us about the kitchen issues. Finally, we watched the manager stop and talk to 3 tables directly around us & stopped at the 5 top as we were leaving, but never stopped at our table. One would think that with the issues that a check in was warranted. You would also think as a courtesy they would offer to comp his Brisket or the app, but nothing was done. I filled out the online survey that was attached to our payment and waited to see if we'd be contacted before posting this, nothing as of this point in time. We have heard many good things and really made it a point to get her and after spending $115, I wish the experience would've been a lot better. I'll edit this review if anything...

Venue is aesthetically beautiful with a warm and inviting interior. The cleanliness is immaculate including the restrooms 🙏. The outdoor covered area is constructed to avoid the afternoon/evening sun in everyone’s face blinding or baking. There is an exposed patio if that’s your desire too. The covered patio has plenty of seating and table area with an exterior bar. The patio is well kept also. Didn’t have any wild birds nesting or flying around, no bees, no flies, very pleasant for alfresco dining. We had a family party, 50ppl, competitively priced and a great selection of party plans to fit the need. Close enough to the highway for travel, large parking lot(huge bonus). We ordered pulled pork and pulled chicken(tender, juicy, well seasoned), cob corn(hot, buttery), Mac n cheese(creamy, perfectly cooked noodles), corn bread(AMAZING), veggie tray. Everything was included, dips, tableware, Togo containers, sauces(sweet and spicy). Drinks were individual, not watered down pitchers, water, soda pops. We opted for cash bar, perfect for us, cold bottled beers mixed drinks prepared well, competent bar work. The service!!! Focused on service. Stocking was done discreetly and seamlessly, kept trays full. Checked in with us at the ending of dinner for dessert preparations and any needs. Communicated any hot spots for cooking and food placements. Everyone had at least one plate and took another home with them, raved about how delicious everything was. Staff boxed up all left overs for traveling after they brought Togo boxes for guests. It was the best staff hosting experience I’ve had. Thank you all!! My family is looking forward to trying more of their menu options. If you’re considering a venue, small to large, take the opportunity to be impressed. Simply book it or stop...

We were told about a restaurant called The Nook .. so you know we had to check it out .. And OhMyGosh .. I am so happy that we did .. the food was absolutely amazing .. we got the dry breaded wings with garlic parmesan sauce and a spicy buffalo sauce .. they have a variety of sauces to choose from and options of breaded or not, tossed in sauce or not. The onion ring tower is terrific. Onions are sliced just to the right size, and breaded in goodness and fried to the ideal crunch, and comes with a boom boom sauce and a ranch dipping sauce. Johnnie is a St Louis style ribs fanatic .. and the rids here are the best ribs he's had since we moved to Ohio, and that was in 2013. They are cooked to absolute perfection and full of flavor, and the brisket was beyond delicious. The corned beef reubin was fantastic .. I am very picky about my corned beef, and I loved this sandwich. None of the meat had a heavy smoke taste .. I really didn't taste it at all .. I was so full we brought dessert home. White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake .. YUMMY, oh so good. Our server Kerri was terrific. She answered all our questions and helped with suggestions. The manager, Bruce, was a pleasure to meet and chat with. When he's not in the kitchen creating a new sauce or a new dish idea you'll find him in the dining room seating and greeting customers. Bruce is also a artist, so you might find him sketching a portrait. We give The Nook a 10/10 on every level there is .. We are looking forward to going...
