Jake's River's Edge Restaurant — Restaurant in Tuscarora Township

Food here is amazing! My boyfriend and I come once in a while for the delicious breakfast and the friendly service! However, we recently visited and must’ve gotten the crew at the wrong time because they were reaaally uptight. Didn’t even get asked what kind of drinks we wanted for 10-20 mins. Two other customers walked in and were immediately asked what kind of drinks and food they wanted and were served way before anyone even checked on us! When we were finally served, our waitress came over and seemed really upset for some reason. Now, I’m not an expert but I’ve worked in restaurant and fast food services and I know things can get busy and rush hour can be the worst but even within all that you must treat your customers with respect! When we got our drinks my boyfriend was upset because he had asked for Coke and was given some diet drink. Which he then asked for another drink from an older lady who also had a bit of an attitude! Worst service we have ever had. Worst food we have ever had. We get there and first off one of the water glasses are dirty with food still in it, but instead of bringing us a clean one they just take that one away like we don't need anything to drink. Then when they bring our food out they bring my son's dinner out first then she serves another table their food. 5 mins later brings my daughter's their food along with their fathers food. But still not my food oh wait that's because she needs to bring another table their food. 5 more mins I finally get my food in the meantime everyone else is cold now because they were waiting for me to get mine so we could eat as a family. Oh and did I mention not only was their food cold but it was overcooked. The waitress only checked on us like twice and when we told her the chicken was way over cooked and couldn't even eat it she was did ask do you want me to have them make a new one. When we said no she brought us the bill and said have a good night. Didn't even ask about dessert, not that we would spend another dine in there but still. Never...

I'm all understanding of being short staffed.. I'm not accepting of rude behavior and our forgotten meal. we sat down within 20 minutes, we ordered within 5-10. EVERY table around us got their food before us, whether they were sat before us, after us, ordered before us, ordered after us, didn't matter. we asked our waitress after patiently waiting for over 20 minutes and she said, "they're working on it." and walked away, no emotion, no apology, no check up, no refill on coffee or water. 15 minutes later, our food arrived. never an apology, never an explanation, etc. I understand being short staffed but communicating to your customers is key. PLUS, when everyone around us is being sat, ordering and receiving their food while we wait (some even finished and left!) is very frustrating. there was only 2 of us!

p.s. we are visitors in this town and will not be returning. too bad Christopher's Cafe was closed this weekend.
