This is a place I want to love. We were recommended to go here for a great steak... the "best in the area." My husband and I went here for dinner over the weekend - arriving around 7:30pm. The place was pretty empty, but we waited at the bar for about 15 minutes for a table. The bar tenders were attentive and my dirty martini was spot on - I had two! When we were seated, the menu was short, which I hoped would indicate a well curated, delicious meal. We started with the shrimp cocktail, which was good, though it didn't seem fresh (maybe frozen). The break was warm and soft, but unremarkable. The salad dressing options for our family-style salad were Italian, Thousand Island, and **. The salad was basic green, with beets and garbanzo beans. My husband ordered the Halibut, which was overcooked and dense. I ordered the filet mignon, which was fatty and the cut of meat was unappealing. Both of our backed potatoes were dry and the topping options were sour cream and butter. We were offered "chives," which was actually parsley. We passed on dessert. The venue is dated, but could be described as nostalgic or a throwback to the 80s. Coming from Lake County, I hoped to fine a place worth driving to, but we may have to keep looking.

Google sent me an article about this place and I had to try it. Drove up with my family from Santa Rosa (60 miles) and it was definitely worth it. The atmosphere of The Broiler is a definite blast to the past. It's rustic but not rundown. A classic theme for Northern California. Most steakhouses make you choose between quality, quantity, or price, but The Broiler gives you all three. I went with a "petite" cut of the prime rib, and even at 7:00 PM I was able to get rare/medium rare. And the size of this was massive, even for the smaller size. The baked potato was perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the house dressing was fantastic. It was creamy, tangy, and had a hint of the horseradish. The pre-meal bread was perfectly warm and soft, but retained a solid crust. My wife had a slice of raspberry cheesecake for dessert and said it was perfectly fluffy. The drinks were well mixed, and very well balanced. Everything was perfectly cooked and presented. I will definitely be making this drive again. 6/10/22 Update: drove up to celebrate my best friend announcing his wedding and had another spectacular night. Great ambience, great food of course, and great service. Definitely a hidden gem in NorCal.

Broiler Steak House has been around for over 40 years+. It's one of the best steak houses around, if you've been or grew up here you know! Food quality has never changed! Quite a few Waiter's and waitresses have worked there a long time, like 20 to 30 years. That say's a lot. They also follow etiquette very nicely. Serve your salad and bread first, pretty quickly also. Then soups and appetizers show up. Then they do a wonderful job of clearing your table, making room and then presenting you with your meal. When we wanted to celebrate a holiday, graduation, prom or just a great night out with your significant other, this has and still is one of those places around. Some say it is the Best. Tip: House salad dressing is great, they make it onsite. If you bring a container, you can buy some to take it home! Oh yeah. And a really nice bar! Separated from dinning area. Nice place to chill and play pool or relax.

Having made my order, making it CRYSTAL clear, NO cheese, I can’t eat cheese on my salad, which they delivered correct to our table. Then came my main course, a 6oz filet steak. It came cooked as I had asked, but it came with a brown butter on top.

My first mouthful was lovely, then the second mouthful I thought I’d try the brown butter with it. OMG! The taste of cheese was so overwhelming and made me feel instantly unwell. I asked the waitress is there cheese in this butter, she said chef doesn’t tell her as it’s a secret recipe. One of our party tasted the butter and told me it was blue cheese. I then asked the plate be removed. She offered me another but I was feeling so unwell I couldn’t eat anything.

The bill came once the rest of our party had finished. I was paying so checked the bill, it still had my steak on the bill. I asked why, she told me the owner said to charge you.

I approached the owner and in a very polite way asked why I was still being charged for my steak. He said I ate it. Lol When I said I ate two mouthfuls, he then said “you’re a liar”, in almost a growl like manner….And he walked away. Shocked beyond belief that I had just been called a liar I followed him to the till area, giggling as I did because I don’t think I’ve ever been called a liar in my 62 years on this planet.

Excuse me I had two mouthfuls, he then said I ate 75% of my steak and you are lying. There were four other people sitting at our table would you like to come and accuse them of lying too? The owner took the steak off and disappeared into the kitchen. . Making your waiter aware you can’t ’do Cheese’, I will be unwell. Then being served cheese, accused of eating it, being called a liar and paying over $600 for the privilege, it’s almost laughable, except the name calling.

So eat and pay for what you’re given, take note when your waitress informs you that her tip starts at 20% and you’ll be fine. What a very unpleasant experience and what a rude and extremely...

I ordered take out.. steak was burnt on the outside and red in the middle when I asked for it Well done.. I ordered the Filet Mignon, and it tasted like any slab of meat, and it was salty... The baked potato looked and tasted like it was cooked earlier and stuck under a heat lamp. The bread tasty way too yeasty for me. The waitress also seemed to be enjoying whatever was going on over my shoulder and I had no idea what was going on so I just stood there and waited... maybe they should work on communication with new costumers... But I would work on finding a new cook first.. Place could've used 0 Stars, but there wasn't an option for it.... I'm sorry to the owner for this review I'm sure your cool but the food and service I had was so horrible that I fed it to my dogs and my 8 month pregnant wife couldn't even eat it, and she's been eating everything lately... I would never go back, I don't want any vouchers or apologies for a bad experience. Because I know that place does well. The parking lot was full and people were everywhere inside..... So my review is definitely just my opinion, but my recipes and work ethic would blow your restaurant out of the water... too bad I'm not a cook or a...
