I'd like to start out by saying I couldn't find anywhere else in Unadilla to eat breakfast. I was the only person in the restaurant. it should have been the warning signs. I've read the other reviews it must be for dinner or lunch. When I walked in a lady behind the counter speaking abruptly, she said, "You eating in, just take a seat." A few minutes later, she brought me the menu on a piece of paper. All they have is scrambled eggs, so they do not cook eggs any other way for you. I ordered the three eggs with bacon, and everything in me wanted to get up and run, but I always gave a place a chance. The eggs were lukewarm, very dry, and definitely had been cooked ahead of time. The bacon appeared to have been baked in an oven, and it was definitely a lot of time. Again, it was lukewarm, very crispy, a little overcooked. The building and decor is a very unique place very down to earth with great decor and antiques, my favorite the full-size Elvis with the guitar. When you look to the other side, there is a complete old soda shop from the 50s. I guess they don't use it anymore, but it was again a very unique place. A young lady was wiping tables off maybe she was new, I don't know, but I asked if I could get some more tea and she looked at me like she had seen a ghost turned to the elderly man through the kitchen window and he motion for her to get the tea so she took my glass without saying a word disappeared came back with my tea handed it to me again without saying a word and walked away. I would have to say the elderly man in the kitchen window waved smiled and was very friendly. There was a younger man sitting behind the counter I guess because it was time for him to eat breakfast he felt no need to address me as I walked around looking at the decor but again it made it for a very unfriendly place. Definitely won't be eating breakfast there again it's on the back side of a track with unfriendly people. It reminds me of an Alfred Hitchcock film where...
Read moreWe figured we try this place and was expecting a 50's diners experience but we did not get that at all.. Other than the decor there isn't much 50's in there. Menu is very limited and seems to have more varieties in pizza than anything else. We waited quite a while for a ribeye sandwich and some chicken tenders. Which tasted ok but nothing special. I did enjoy the homemade fries tho but for all the extra up charges we were surprised with when it came time to pay, it wasn't worth it IMO. Tenders without fries $8.25 want fries add another $2.99. want toppings on your sandwich it's $1.50 for this and $1.75 for that. $1 for honey mustard. Which of course we weren't informed about or I would have opted out of .
But the biggest gripe I had was the 3% restaurant service fee that was attached. Are FKing you kidding me, I PAID CASH!!!!
I guess at least our waitress was nice and understood we had to wait awhile for our food as she asked if we were still doing ok as what seemed like 25mins had passed...
Read moreI don't know how fast food chains survive when there are amazing locally owned diners all over the country just like this one! The 57 diner is charming in atmosphere and the food is great. I had a cheeseburger all the way. It was cooked to order, piping hot and juicy and the veggies were fresh, crispy and perfect. If I could change anything it would be that the beef had been seasoned a little bit more but it was still a good burger. I also had some chili cheese fries which weren't even on the menu but they made them for me anyway. The place has a cool vibe about it, it is decorated to look like the 1950s. They also had 1950s cartoons playing which was neat to watch while I waited for my meal. The staff was very friendly. I had a great lunch here and I'll definitely be back! If you are coming down I-75 and looking for a place for lunch, this is...
