So my wife won a contest, and one of the things she received was a dinner for two at the Buttersburg Inn. We live on Fort Detrick, so it was about a 30 minute drive to get there, but the roads were fun and I enjoyed the drive a lot! Once we arrived we were greeted by the owner (Jim) and he got us a table. This place is a CLASSIC small town restaurant, and I freaking loved it. The locals are there... kisses and hugs are exchanged... it was great. Anyway, I ordered the stuffed pork chop with mac-n-cheese, green beans and apple fritters (they were extra, but who cares). My wife ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. The pork chop was HUGE! The stuffing was very flavorful and the meat was not only from a local butcher, but perfectly cooked... fell right off the bone. The macaroni was the 2nd best I have ever had (and that is some serious praise coming from me) and the beans were good too. My wife's steak was very tasty with perfect breading, but I thought it was just a tiny bit thin. I really did not care that much though because it tasted great and the gravy was amazing! Read moreI have been eating at The Butterburg Inn for about a year now. It was highly recommended by a friend and now I highly recommend it to everyone. I have tried meat dishes as well as some of the vegetarian dishes and all have been delicious. They are known for having great homemade cakes and pies for dessert. There is a large blackboard dessert menu mounted on the wall. Everyday, as the day progresses, the list of cakes and pie flavors diminishes as favorites are eaten up and erased from the board. So the earlier you get there in the day the better chance you have of finding your favorite still available. If you happen to get there late in the day you will still find wonderful desserts because they have so many different choices and all are homemade. Even the drive through the countryside to get to The Butterburg Inn is a delight. I have never been disappointed with anything I have tried here and I always say, "YES" when the family suggests...
