This Is It! Southern Kitchen & Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Union City

This Restaurant chain was my favorite place to eat when they first opened up. I think the 1st one I ate at was on Covington Hwy in Decatur. I had not eaten at This Is It in years because the taste of the food has seriously declined. We decided to give the new location a try. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. The greens were gritty with dirt, the broccoli and rice and sweet potatoes casserole tasted old. The potato salad was decent. My sister's chicken was undercooked and pink. We were told smoked chicken is supposed to be pink. The tables were nasty so we wiped them down ourselves. The floors were sticky. The manager in the blue shirt was berating a employee in front of us while we were checking out. I felt so bad for her because I could tell she was embarrassed. We had to ask for silverware. The napkin dispenser had no napkins and you are only giving one napkin while eating barbecue. The manager came over with a dismissive attitude and told me no refund on the food but offered another meal. I declined because it was the same food. While I complained to the manager he kept looking away at his staff instead of me while I was talking. At this point I stopped talking because he didnt seem concerned. After I took 3 bites I couldn't eat anymore because it was so gross. I gave them their food back and wasted my time and money. I so wanted to support this black business. I hope this is not the best they can offer our community after being in business this long. I eat out 3 to 4 times a week. They lost a good customer because I WILL NEVER eat at any of their restaurants again. Don't waste your money...

This has been my worst This Is It experience. Since I have seen multiple people with the same complaint as myself, I feel compelled to leave a rating as well bc the issue is not being fixed. The drive thru service was terrible. The cashier was very unfriendly and handed the food over to me as if she was saying, “Here, now go” (she did not say this). Her body language was very much, “I do not want to be here.” I ordered the rib tips plate, and I wanted sauce on my ribs. When I go to the window, I was asked if I ordered them with no sauce and I said no. I confirmed that I DO want sauce. They ignored both requests and gave me ribs with no sauce and put the bbq on the side.

For people that actually eat bbq religiously that is a big deal. When someone tells you that they want sauce ON their ribs, you DO NOT proceed to give them naked ribs and sauce on the side. Your prices are not low enough to just give whatever. Give the customer what they request. I don’t just hand over my money like, “here you go.” I do so with pride and wanting to feel as if it was worth my money. So I expect the same in return.

The interaction at the drive thru is very quick. So if you are going to have someone working drive thru, have someone there with good energy and who actually WANTS to work drive thru. Do not put people who are not personable in front of house positions. This is too good of a restaurant for such poor service. Ok this was a new spot in my neighborhood where I live so I said let me try the new spot I have eaten at there other spot camp creek n old nat so I said let me try the new Union City spot ummm bad idea so I get two plates I bbq plate n smoked wing plate I need to be compensated for this blood n the meat I'm a cook n cater no way I would serve any one that type of food I paid over 50.00 dollars for my meal n I have to get hard bloody cooked meat please get some cooks that really know how to grill n cook like my dad use to say my father was a cooker n a person that he loved to bbq he would always say we don't do bubble Gum meat n I would say dad what that mean he would say bubble gum meat is meat that you chew n chew that's bubble gum meat n I must say that's what they sold to me just not right when some one is spending that type of money they order should have been right n to the owners I been eating your food since the 90$ when u has your first restaurant shop on Washington road I just can't believe the service that's been given lately and I just thought at the new location in Union City location it would be much better I love the set up but the food is not right the cooks got to get it together cause I'm sorry but this was not it not today my first visit not good please get it together n make your cooks do better n also I didn't get what I ask for n ordered also they got a tip that I did not Authorize watch using your debit cards there n I never got compensated for my food just bad...
