Kalico Kitchen — Restaurant in Union

Unlike others who have posted their review - we unfortunately did not have the same experience. My friend and I recently stayed the weekend at a charming AirBNB in the Union, WV area and stopped in at the Kalico Kitchen for dinner after a long day of driving and hiking. When we walked in the door - it was obvious that we were strangers to the town as everyone just stared at us no matter how many times we spoke or smiled at other patrons. The waitress/hostess was very aware of our presence but refused to make eye contact with us and walked past us at least three times in the 5-10 minutes we were standing there without ever acknowledging us. When my friend inquired as to whether they prefer we wait to be seated or seat ourselves, (there was no sign indicating their preference) the waitress replied in a loud and rude voice that we could "seat ourselves, but that it would be a long while before she would be around to take our order." No smile, no apologies - just flat out rudeness. We wisely opted for delicious homemade sandwiches and a glass of wine back at our delightful AirBNB, with no regrets. If I could leave you no stars - it would be a more honest rating as we never had the opportunity to taste your food and your customer service was non-existent. It's blatantly obvious that you don't care, but Kalico Kitchen....you will not have a second chance to redeem...

Very disappointed. The burger was SO small. The waitress didn't help us at all. She was a young girl and she acted like we were an imposition to her. We had to ask twice to get our drinks filled, and then she didn't bring them to us right away. Watching her, she just left the drinks on the counter and was standing around. The lettuce on my burger was from a bagged salad. My husband asked for an omelet with no pork. The omelet was loaded with ham. There was a hair in my food. The bun was cold and the cheese on my burger didnt even melt. It was disgusting. Earlier in the week we were at the restaurant and ordered the same thing and the food and service was wonderful.

Disappointed and will be a while before we go...

I’ve been going to Kalico my whole life but after today I will most likely never return. We went in at 10:30 for breakfast the waitress Tracey threw the menus on the table and when my boyfriend asked what the special was she said we are out of biscuits and it’s lunch. I asked lunch at 10:30 and she said well there’s the menu. My boyfriend again asked what the special was because he had planned to order it with toast to which again she smarted off saying there was no biscuits and my boyfriend said yes I know it was the same last Saturday and she just smarted off well sorry as rudely as possible.
