Title: Disappointing Dining Experience at Pasta House, Union, MO
If you're in the mood for a culinary letdown, look no further than Pasta House in Union, MO. Our visit left much to be desired, starting with the chicken parmigiana, which was not only minuscule but resembled a rubber tire in both texture and taste. The dish was so dry and bland that it could have easily doubled as a coaster. To add insult to injury, the scant amount of sauce provided was reminiscent of a mere droplet, barely moistening the desert of disappointment on our plates.
In a feeble attempt to salvage the situation, the manager, seemingly aware of the restaurant's culinary catastrophe, made a belated appearance as we were taking our last bites. Offering to drown our sorry excuse for chicken parmigiana in more sauce, their effort was as futile as trying to rescue a sinking ship with a teaspoon.
The bill, totaling a staggering $83 for two people, felt like a cruel joke considering the lackluster fare we endured. To add insult to injury, a mandatory gratuity was tacked onto the bill, leaving a bitter taste in our mouths long after the last morsel had been swallowed.
Amidst the culinary catastrophe, our waitress emerged as the sole beacon of hope in an otherwise dismal dining experience. Despite the restaurant's shortcomings, her genuine warmth and attentiveness were a silver lining in an otherwise cloudy meal.
In conclusion, unless you have a masochistic penchant for culinary disappointment, I would strongly advise steering clear of Pasta House in Union, MO. For those craving authentic Italian cuisine, I echo the sentiment of seeking refuge elsewhere – perhaps at "Rich and Charley's" – where the promise of genuine Italian flavors might actually...
Read moreBest plate I have had here is the Scampi alla Griglia. They have made a change to the recipe and it's still really good! I have also had their Eggplant Parmigiana. Food is usually pretty good.
Appetizers - zucchini sticks are delicious and the breaded portabella mushrooms are fantastic. Lightly breaded with a nice crispy coating. Big mushrooms and plenty to share.
The salad size has been reduced to a bowl rather than a plate but was fresher than I remember. For a while they were bringing what looked like old salad and frozen. Now it is still somewhat crispy.
We had a pitcher of the sangria - it was about five glasses. Tasted very good. Did not have a lot of fruit in it and had a lot of ice. Could ask for less ice next time.
My only complain would be how fast everything is served. The bread rolls did not come until a short while after our salad was served which was served just shortly after our appetizers came. Then we were only half way through the salad when our entrees came. Everything was fresh tasting, but did come very quickly. I know that is an odd complaint considering some people have to way forever to get things... But I think there has to be a happy medium... Somewhere, maybe?! Anyway, the waitress could also learn a few pointers about how to ask a table if they want anything else. Her favorite question which was asked about 7 times was - "You guys still good?" I guess we're good. Maybe ask, "Is there is anything I can get you?" or "Are you read for a dessert? I recommend, blah blah!"
All in all, nice environment and...
Read moreThe waitress was edgy and made us feel stressed every time she came over. Just not relaxing. We brought up an issue (needed an item canceled due to not realizing kids eat free on Sundays) before she had brought the food. She said with some hostility that she wasn't sure she could cancel it. We said we'd like the free kids meals regardless, and said it wasn't clear that was an option when ordering. She basically told us we should have read a sign up front (which they never put out that night), said she was busy so she forgot, and just said it all with an edgy tone that made us feel like we were somehow wrong for even asking about it. Side note, it was not very busy compared to a TON of restaurants, no backed up line at all, plenty of waitresses there. If the cooks didn't have help that would make sense, but there were lots of waitresses. She did end up canceling the order for us but she canceled the wrong order. Four adults heard me say the correct item, but she told us all "no, you definitely said this other item", and again took zero responsibility. We weren't salty about it, I've worked customer service jobs and understand people make mistakes. That's fine, but giving customers attitude for your mistakes is NOT fine. Then when it was time to bring the bill, she started acting nicer, checking on us more, etc. The food was very mediocre and bland for the price.
We had a poor experience, so would not recommend...
