This place definitely is worthy of a 5 star rating. First off do not pass up on the pretzel/ we had the sour cream and onion one and it put all other pretzels to shame. Outstanding pretzel/ best one I've ever had by far. We were looking for some gifts and wanted to try some shoofly pie. We found great gifts/ they had lawn ornaments/ windchimes/ mugs/ magnets/ toys etc... as far as baking they are really good at it/ we got the small shoofly pie(7$) it was very good and not too sweet. I got a small piece of the chocolate shoofly pie(2$) I probably should have got the whole chocolate small shoofly pie because it was outstanding and also not too sweet. It was totally different than the regular pie/ they were both vg. We also got a loaf of the cheddar bread which was soft / chewy/ cheesy and delicious. I bet it's good toasted but we are traveling and don't bring a toaster with us. I did make a sandwich using it and some broasted chicken I got from specks in collegeville/ that was good good stuff. So yeah go check out this place for sure. They have ample parking and several nice tables and benches to sit at/ you can feed the goats/ lemonade was good also from the trailer. Thanks folks even though you may never see this...

This is our second visit to the bakery from being out of townies. We went there on our second day and hit it again the day before we left to bring home lot of wonderful treats. The cookies are so delicious and my husbands favorite was the M & M fudge bars. Oh my goodness eyes roll back in head yummy. The chocolate chip cream cheese coffee cake as wonderful. That took care of our breakfast for three mornings since with Covid the hotels are not serving breakfast other than grab and go stuff. We also found some pretty Christmas gifts in the gift shop section. We went to see the chickens and adorable goats out back as well. That area is fixed up so nicely for them.

Update for 2024: We came back on vacation again. And yes we came twice during a stay to get wonderful fresh homemade yummies. The Cookies, sticky buns, apple pie, pumpkin roll are all so delicious. We will not go to any other store for our treats! And everyone is so nice and helpful. Be warned if you see a tour bus rolling into the parking lot get in and out quick as the place gets jammed pack. Oh we also got to cute...

I have been coming here since I was a baby with my family (we visited Lancaster county every spring until I was 21). I hadn't been in well over a decade but finally got to visit on April 15th 2023. It is the same as I remember! The bakeshop has the best baked goods anywhere in the country. My personal favorite is their pumpkin whoopie pies- they are perfectly flavored and my favorite dessert in the world. They have various other flavors of whoopie pies from chocolate, peanut butter cookie, shoofly pie, oatmeal cookie and chocolate chip cookie. They are all amazing. The bakeshop is probably best known for their shoofly pie which you can buy in several sizes from slices to mini pies and full size. There are also breads, seasonal pies, cookies, etc. They have a great assortment of canned goods-jams, salsas, sauces, etc. Many bulk ingredients too like molasses and spices. There are also lots of gift and garden items for your home. The employees are wonderful-always friendly and eager to serve. Overall this place is amazing and a must stop in Amish country. It is one of my favorite...

I am absolutely obsessed with this bakery. It had a freezer full of gluten free treats. I'd never been able to try Shoofly Pie before, but they actually had them in the gluten free freezer - along with breads, whoopie pies, cookies, etc. The Shoofly Pie was as delicious as I imagined. It was the best gluten free pie crust I've ever had. My kiddo and I both got a gluten free whoopie pie - one filled with white frosting and one with peanut butter frosting. Both were heavenly. Kiddo also got some fresh ice cream. We got some red licorice sticks for my kid's teacher (her favorite). We got some local root beer. We picked up some metal lawn ornaments as gifts for a couple people (pig and goat). The prices were quite fair. We enjoyed their goat pen and the playground area very much. For .25 cents my son got a handful of goat feed. Watching them eat was fun. They were surprisingly gentle. There were restrooms. We will absolutely return next time we're in town, and I'll be sure to bring a big cooler to bring more goodies home!!!!

This Bakeshop is the best! All of the baked goods are freshly made. You get to taste and try Amish made baked goods. There are lots of souvenir type things for sale. The best thing is the baked goods. You must try the whoopie pies! You can also get drinks so can enjoy a snack there or take it home with you. Most of the staff are Amish and are very friendly and open to dialogue and questions. Pictures are often allowed, just be respectful and ask before taking pictures. Restrooms are located outside off the porch, to the left as you exit. Next to the parking lot there is a pen where you can view goats and chickens. Food pellets are located in a dispenser that you can feed them. If you are near Bird in Hand you should visit the Bakeshop!
