We decided to come here for a birthday celebration. Unfortunately we left feeling upset. I wouldn't recommend this place, especially if you have large party or need to get in and out in less than 2.5 hours.

We made a reservation for 7 people. We sat down at 6:45, ordered by 7:10, and it took until 8:35 to get most of the meals, with one meal forgotten. About an hour into waiting I checked on our food, and was told it was coming right out. 10 minutes later I asked to talk to a manager and instead of bringing them over the waiter got defensive, told us it was busy season, they were understaffed and it was tough luck. Finally the manager (maybe also a cook in the kitchen?) came out and nervously told us they got slammed and maybe he said sorry (unclear). He decided to comp the meal that came late – didn't really help the rest of us who had to wait and were on separate checks.

Strangely someone from our party showed up 30 minutes after we ordered, he ordered his food and it came out within 15 - 20 minutes. That is when we realized we had been waiting a heck of a long time for our food.

Honestly would have just been nice to be informed that things were taking a bit longer than normal OR even have been asked if we wanted another round of drinks. I do not leave reviews, honestly because it hurts small business, but yall need to know this was not ok. My stomach hurts, not saying its your fault, but its a bit strange...wonder if it was because the food was sitting out under a heat lamp while you were trying to finish the order???? (we were told at one point our order for 7 people was taking longer than the 1 person who came late, because they wanted to serve the 7 at once which makes me think the food was sitting under a heat lamp...also didn't look the freshest...)

Edit: it seems at least 4 of us have stomach aches / grumbly /...

So, we received an email offer from Local Flavor to purchase a coupon for this restaurant. It is situated between Routes 378 and 412 and the rural venture off of Black River Road shower a beautifully appointed neighborhood. The tavern sits on a relaxing and beautifully landscaped property and includes a screened in building, outdoor patio area, octagonal, umbrella topped tables, and the indoor dining areas plus bar. Four segmented parking areas for about 50 + cars. Now for the dining experience! First a shout out to the chefs, Nick & Mikey, who prepared, arranged and presented the Broiled Seafood Sampler: generous piece of haddock, 1 shrimp, 3 scallops, 1 clam casino and a SVT crab cake, a HOT baked potato with six hearty stalks of broccoli. We added a Spring mix side salad for $4 served fresh and topped with red bell pepper, grape tomatoes, cubes and delicious HOMEMADE Dijon Vinaigrette. We ordered the trout appetizer dotted with capers, raw red onion and an awesome sauce of their homemade Tiger sauce. And to our server who ROCKED throughout with her genuine personality and efficient delivery of each course, timely and tactful. . . . KAYLEE. She was an absolute delight in many ways. And hubs rarely orders dessert although just the mention of that Banana Cake with swirls of cream cheese frosting changed his mind. Homemade, moist and fresh. All around delightful...

7/2024: I don't give a lot of five stars because it's very hard to achieve. This place gets the five star rating mostly because of our server Ashley who was absolutely just super pleasant from the minute we met her.

Our experience just got better with great dirty martinis, a great atmosphere down on the patio with the double fountains. Then came the food.

When I say the best clams casino I've literally ever had, I'm not joking. If you like clams casino you need to go there and try these.

We then had the crab cakes. Delicious and not filled with a lot of fillers. We tried the Portobello and crab lobster sandwich and it was delicious. Finished things off with a homemade key lime pie and also homemade chocolate mousse! The espresso and coffee was delicious as well!

Oh I forgot, sweet potato fries absolutely perfect as well as the regular fries were delicious as well. I don't think I've written delicious so many times in the review! LOL.

As an added bonus there was a band playing off in the back area screened-in patio. That was nice because you can still hear the music but it wasn't blaring loud as is normal in other places.

We look forward to coming here again and maybe trying the inside dining room area which looks very nice as well.

Give this place a try as it's...

Love love love this hidden gem!! Been here probably 25x. Incredible Happy Hour. Taco Tuesday is an absolute must with gourmet shells and large tacos, Wing Wednesday is delicious with various delicious flavors (hot & honey my favorite) & homemade Bleu cheese, and they have their own trout dispensary underneath the building with the water kept at 52 degrees year around and fresh trout. This building has been around since 1896 and has hidden trap doors underneath during probation where people would hide when the place got raided. So much history here. Also, nice outside seating for the summertime. The pictures below are of the crabcakes and trout with crab and sweet potatoe fries. I've always had stellar first rate service here too.
