So, I can only speak to what I ordered, but I had the bison strip steak and found it to be meh. It was ok, not seasoned with even salt and pepper (they provided on the side of the plate) and served Pittsburgh blue, rather than the medium rare I ordered (I like my meat bloody, but warm in the middle). They did offer to put it back on the grill for me but I declined because I was concerned that cooking it anymore would cause it to be tougher than it was. It was also my first time having a bison steak, so it may just be tougher than beef. And all of that would have been OK, rated 4 stars, if the mashed potatoes that came with the steak weren't so awful. Honestly, my husband thought they were instant, but I'm pretty sure most instant potatoes have more flavor than that, at least some salt. They tasted like they had put the boiled potatoes in a blender with some water. If there was any butter, milk, salt....anything to add flavor....it was done in such a small amount as to be undetectable. I just realized where I've tasted mashed potatoes like these, the hospital. These are the potatoes they give you with your hospital meal.
The grilled watermelon was interesting, but not something I'd order again.
Service was wonderful and...

From the food to the lore, this was one of the best experience from a restaurant we've had in quite a while. Make sure to ask Daniel about the story of the restaurant.
We had (and highly recommend) the build your platter. We had chicken, brisket, lamb and short ribs with the signature bbq sauce and the raspberry bbq sauce as well as the Mac and cheese, fries, grilled vegetables and pickled add ons. The presentation on a huge cutting board was gorgeous. I wish I had taken a picture but we just dug into it. I should mention we had two Texans with us and they raved about the European style bbq- very high quality and perfectly smoked. Forgot to mention the appetizers- we had the shrimp cocktail and broccoli with pablano cream sauce- both excellent. Who knew broccoli could be that delicious. We had honey cake and the chocolate gem- also delicious. I texted two friends to tell them about this new place before we even finished dinner. We will certainly be back again and again. I haven’t been this impressed with a restaurant in our neighborhood in a long time. You all hit the mark. Thank you!...

From smoked brisket to handcrafted cocktails, this South Hills standout is redefining Texas-style BBQ with a fine dining touch. We kicked off with the charred shishito peppers—served with house-made sriracha—and let’s just say, do not skip. For dinner, we tried the Tailor Made Platter, which lets you build your own BBQ board. We picked brisket, honey pork belly, pulled pork, and chicken breast—plus sides of mac n’ cheese, mashed potatoes, and roasted veggies (those grilled vegetables were next-level). Topped it off with Grisha’s BBQ sauce—sweet, smoky, and ridiculously good. And the cocktails? Flavor-forward and beautifully crafted. The Smokey Manhattan was a standout. Bonus: I was celebrating my birthday, and they surprised me with a slice of homemade honey cake (complete with candle + a birthday song in Russian). Truly such a thoughtful touch. If you haven’t been to Owls Nest yet—make this your next dinner destination. South Hills, this...
