Underwhelming at best. Nothing particularly bad, but based upon reviews, we had expectations that were clearly too high. We stopped for Sunday dinner after the Grafton Flea. Had the warm brie with compote appetizer. The Brie was pleasantly warm, but the compote lacked flavor and the bread seemed dry and also lacked flavor. The soups were good, but lacked distinction. Mac and cheese had long stringy bits of red pepper and tasted more of the barbecue sauce drizzled across the top than either chicken or cheese...mostly wasn't good enough to keep up with a very persistent fly....asked for a Togo container...gave up competing with the insect.
The brownie sundae my partner ordered was tasty, but the experience suffered because there was still a soiled cup from soup, an empty popcorn bowl and a pile of dirty silverware keeping the fly interested...we finally put it on the table next to us and STILL it didn't occur to our waiter to clear it away. He did watch us from the side of the empty dining room, but we had to ask every time we needed a drink refilled, or anything else. We even had to ask him to fill the second diner's glass because he ignored it's also being empty when we asked for the initial refill. We also had to ask for the second Togo container because he ran off without noticing two full plates when I asked. He brought the bill promptly. I noticed he was sitting down eating as we left. I think we must have interfered with his dining experience. Lots of staff around....not a lot of customers. Trash still overflowing in the bathrooms from the brunch service. I really had hoped for a...
Read moreSince 2011, my friends & I have always had positive experiences (food & service) at this bar & grill UNTIL Friday night 10/6/23 between 5-6:30pm. As an aside, the restaurant had open tables and I did not see a wait.
A GEN Z waitress was training a GEN X waitress at our table. My friend & I are late stage baby boomers. The GEN X waitress did great on her own and was only hampered by the GEN Z waitress's LACK OF professionalism.
My friend and I both ordered the pasta and fish specials for the day which were both delicious. That's where the positives for the meal end. The GEN Z waitress asked my friend, "Can I take your plate or would you like to lick it clean?" My friend's response, "Aren't you fresh!" I was stunned, as I was still eating my meal and had a glass of wine to finish. At this point, I was asked if I wanted a box- I said no, I'm still eating. My friend ordered a cup of decaf coffee which was burnt.
A box was delivered to our table for my remaining meal. We were asked if we wanted dessert, coffee ?....at which point my friend mentioned the decaf coffee issue. GEN Z waitress response, "it was made about 15 minutes ago and offered another cup." My friend said no AND I responded to Gen Z waitress question, with a NO- just the check. We would have entertained another drink, dessert and coffee but it was obvious the Gen Z waitress wanted the table to turn over. Why?
We left-EACH spending $36 including a 20% tip for hopefully ONLY the GEN X waitress! We complimented the GEN X waitress as we left.
NOT in a hurry...
Read moreA great front line server in a mediocre restaurant can make all the difference. unfortunately this didn't happen today at Red Rock... slow service, even with a light number of guests. beverages never filled unless we called staff to refill. Food took an extended length of rooms to arrive. and plates for different members of the same party arrive at vastly different times. My meal arrived 5 minutes before my wife's food arrived. So my meal sat chilling on table waiting for her plate to arrive. Staff stated that they had a large table of orders in kitchen. Everything is TOO SWEET, the bread was over sweet, the meals arrived covered in incredibly sweet sauces, rather than letting customers put the sauces on themselves to their taste . The scrambled eggs had a spot were a huge bit of salt was deposited, French toast was mush and closer to bread pudding texture, hash browns were soggy, bland and mush, sausage was poor and better can be found in Wegmans market, waffle and chicken came with waffles soggy and undesirable,
They would benefit from some competition in the area. as the only true restaurant in Upton business is good, but that is likely due to lack of options. The breakfast foods have potential, but the delivery is lacking seriously, and the prices of what was presented were not insignificant and more than they were worth.
service failed food quality failed food choices eclectic... not for all tastes pricing failed environment good wifi... nope parking tight
better alternative... South Street Diner...
