If I could give negative stars I would. My husband and I got driven out of our campsite early this morning due to the whipping winds so we didn't make our own breakfast as planned. When we got to Hidden Cuisine we immediately noticed that anyone that appeared to be an employee made direct eye contact with us and went back to what they were doing without actually acknowledging us. This went on for at LEAST 5 solid minutes. When the server that was resetting a two top came to the host/hostess podium she was going to ignore us as well but then realized that was probably a bit too blatant in the rude department.( I've worked in the service industry for decades. I know that look.) She asked how many, we said two and she said "Yeeeeeeah do you mind eating outside?" I was a bit taken aback because ITS WINDY and there was clearly a table available, so I said to my husband let's just get it to go and eat in the car. To which the server replied ummmm iiiiiif you want to maybe check back later with a server we can see if we will do that for you. Needless to say Hidden Cuisine didn't get our money today nor will they EVER. We travel extensively up and down the West coast by car, know dozens of travelers and belong to several travel groups online. Each and every single one of them will be informed of our experience and know that if you aren't a perky blonde haired blue eyed person, you'll be asked to eat outside. I mean, what year...
Read moreAfter a 10 minute drive south of Moab we found this place sitting slightly up the hill from noisy hwy 191. Although indoor dining was offered we opted for the festooned, smallish, colorfully fenced outdoor patio seating. Must have been a Covid afterthought, as it was an extension of the crushed rock parking area. However, the tables and chairs were as comfortable as the cool summer evening breeze. South African cuisine dominates the menu, which was an exciting change for us. My wife ordered the SA Chardonnay; flowery, light and pleasant. For dinner she had a meaty lamb shank in a concentrated brown glaze, on a bed of couscous and veggies. My daughter ordered Bobotie, the putative S. African national dish. It's a moderately seasoned meatloaf covered with an egg custard. It had a slightly sweet tang and was an unexpected delight, along with some tasty sides. My choice for dinner was an appetizer, 3 empanadas, filled with tomatoes and slightly crunchy veggies with warm feta. They appeared to be overcooked, but were just right. Two small delicious sauces accompanied them. We all shared a lava cake for dessert, luscious and complemented with plain berries. Overall the attentive service, the cool, funky outdoor patio, pricing, and cuisine all merited a high rating. Left for next time is the breakfast or...
Read moreIf you don't stop here to eat, you're missing out! We came here for breakfast while visiting in Moab for a few days. To say we weren't disappointed is putting it mildly! It was fantastic. I had the homemade chefs' s crepes with bananas, fresh strawberries and blueberries, with a homemade raspberry sauce. To die for! My husband had the Hidden scrambled crepes. He loved them. The bill was comparable to other breakfasts we had in moab, but none compared to this! Loved it so much, we made sure we stopped for breakfast again on our way out of town. One of the 2 owners who waited on us on our previous visit already had our table with big glasses of ice water waiting for us. This time I ordered the Healthy Banana split with Greek yogurt, granola, fresh strawberries and blueberries, homemade mixed berry compote and dusted with cinnamon. Fab! My husband had the eggs benedict and it was great. We also shared a glass of freshly squeezed OJ. I only regret that we weren't able to try their lunch menu. This newer business is owned by 2 young women. One serves, and the other is the chef, although on our second visit, another young woman did the cooking, which was just as consistent as our 1st visit. Moab needs this business to make it! We sincerely loved both experiences here. Thank you, ...
