J&J's Pizza Shack — Restaurant in Valparaiso

Seriously short staffed. Staff was rude. The staff taking orders were very confused and didn't know what items they had on their menu. I asked if she was new, she said no. Got food almost two hours after ordering. We were told an hour on delivery. After an hour and a 1/2, I called. I was told the food had "just left". It was another half hour before it showed up. I live less than 5 mins from the store. We should've just picked it up. I asked the driver if he more deliveries before ours. He said "no, he'd just left the store." The food was cold. We were missing items. We were shorted almost a dozen wings. The poppers were still frozen in the middle. The breaded mushrooms were wet & cold. The pizza was stuck to the paper, they didn't use wax paper to keep it from sticking. I paid a hundred dollars for sh!t food. They said they'd replaceme food if I came in and brought their mistakes. We already waited two hours. I said at that point, I was just done. It would've been a poor decision to go in as frustrated as I was. We ate here almost every weekend. This place was everything I was hoping for out of a community minded eatery. I was here for about an hour. The entire time I watched they were busy. The people around here LOVED the food. Folks were coming in non stop to pick up orders, calling continuously to place orders. I noticed a strange phenomenon in which as people were carrying food out others were jumping at the chance to hold the door for them. Until my own food arrived I didn't realize why. J&Js stacks topping on their pizza until they are heavy. The customer culture here just knows that a person carrying a pizza from this place needs a hand with the door. I started this review with that thought because if you are looking for dining ambiance this ain't the place. They have a lot of pinball machines and that's cool but I can tell the owners put priority on food which once you try it you will understand. If you are looking for good pizza try this place, just don't be upset about the wait. The wait is because they are busy. They are busy because they are good. Well...

I ordered a pizza with just cheese and garlic and it was disgusting. I usually order from here but it was my first time trying something different and I didn't want to eat 50 pgarlic cloves on my pizza, I thought it was like a sprinkle. There was way too much sauce and I couldn't even eat one slice. I called the next day since by the time I ate my pizza it was late and they were closing, I asked for a refund on just the pizza part since everything else was ok. I was told they can't do refunds the next day but she would look into it and get back to me. Well that was several days ago and no one's gotten back to me. $50 down the drain. I guess they only care if you call the day off and they won't help you otherwise. Because of how my complaint wasn't handled or resolved I will no longer be ordering from here. Even dominos will at least give you a credit if you don't like something and tell them...
