Hawg Diner — Restaurant in Vandalia

I went to see my favorite band in the Vandalia area again. I love Van Waylon Band, and any time they are close by, I go see them. They always pack the house. I really like watching them at the Hawg Diner because I can get me some cod nuggets (my favorite) and fries and then dance the night away. This place is small but their food is great and they even have daily specials. I do wish it was a larger space, but I still enjoy going and listening to my favorite band. The management and staff are always so nice, and I look forward to seeing them, as well as local friends. I hope sometime in the future, this place will expand the actual bar so there is more space for dancing. If you notice online and in local ads that Van Waylon Band is playing, do yourself a favor and go see them. They have a great variety of music like Classic and Southern Rock and Country music too. Never boring, and they have several singers. I say go to the Hawg Diner and try their food and check...

So, let me set this up. It was dinner time and there was no place to eat near our hotel. This place was 15 mins up the road. We pulled into the lot, and a lady stated,'the pork tenderloin sandwich is their claim to fame'. Bar food is truly different all over. We were really hungry, but afew bar partons were loud and on the verge of rowdy. We ordered the famous pork tenderloin sandwich.' Honestly it was good, but nothing award winning. Service was great, especially for a small local bar. (Small town services DO have limits you know. You gotta take what you get....

Walked in and there were no tables available so we left. People outside overheard my friends trying to decide on another place to eat and chimed in on a restaurant we were considering, told us it was good but they said they refer to it as "dirty Mexican". I took that as a derogatory comment and decided this place wasn't for us. We went to the Mexican Restaurant and it was great! Thanks for the tip, but keep your trashy comments...
