Iconic, landmark place in Meadville! A must-visit place if you're in the area. We visited in early April after lunch, and it was still cold too, not exactly ice cream weather for most, but we wouldn't miss it. It came highly recommended by my mother-in-law, who grew up in Meadville and did not disappoint. Even with the cooler weather and time of day, there was still a small line when we arrived, and more people showed up afterward as well. All good signs of good food. The line went quickly, and our order was taken quickly as well. Our order came out pretty quickly, in about 10 minutes or just less. Everything was amazing! Loved it so much I forgot to take pictures of the ice cream order for the review. I got the hot fudge brownie sundae, and it was aaaaammmmmaaazzzziiiinnnnggg! The frozen custard it is renowned for is every bit as good as we were told. Absolutely wonderful taste and quality. Made the old-fashioned way. There is no dining in. Either you eat in your vehicle or on outdoor, unsheltered picnic tables, but that doesn't matter. I could imagine this pace being packed every day and night during the summer! Highly recommended to visit if you're in the area. We will definitely return when we visit...

The silky, creamy goodness that comes out of this little shack is otherworldly.

My wife doesn't do ice cream. Not one bit. But we recently moved back to Meadville where I grew up, and one day I took her to my favorite childhood custard shop. One glorious bite later, and she was hooked. Since then, she's dragged me (willingly) to Hanks more times than I can count. She makes up excuses to go to Conneaut Lake just so we can stop at Hank's. And I ain't complaining!!

If you've never tried Hanks, then you probably wouldn't understand what I'm talking about. It's just something you have to experience for yourself. Just remember, they make FROZEN CUSTARD here. And THAT'S their specialty. For best results: a cone is the way to go. The simpler the better. It stands on its own without any frills. And if you tell me you've had anything creamier, I'll call you a liar to...

Delicious classic custards and ice creams, including old times flavors like malt, which had me over the moon. However, their customer service is as chilly as their treats. I've also never had a small business just. KEEP my small change??? I was suppose to have $4.40 in change and I was only given the bills. I hesitated and gave the girl a questioning look, opening my hand with just the bills in it and asking, " Four forty?" To which she smiled and nodded like I was a moron. I couldn't stand to stay because there was a family behind me and the mother was close enough to feel her breath the entire time I was in line, but Hank's always have high school girls with more makeup than manners working there and if they're gonna start keeping change then I'm only ever gonna go back on the rare occasion when I have a craving for their...

Road side walk up only custard shack. They have a couple benches to sit but you'll probably sit in your car or grab n go. They have various sundaes, floats and cones with their soft custard. Very tasty. Worth the stop. Don't let a long line fool you, it moves fairly quick.

I’ve been eating this wonderful frozen custard for fifty plus years and it hasn’t changed a lick-literally. Nothing like a ride to Hank’s on a hot summer night and if custard isn’t your thing, try the orange sherbet. (Find Ferike)
