Big Daddy's BBQ — Restaurant in Vernon

Stopped in get some dinner, and full disclosure, I'm not from Florida or local area. Picked up a BBQ brisket and pork dinner. I asked for double beans as the beef side, and Cole slaw and beans for the pork. Once I got back to my spot and opened the box, instead of double beans, I had beans and what they call Cole slaw, but was really just a glob of mayonnaise with a little cabbage. First off, I didn't order slaw and second, I hate mayonnaise. So that didn't get eaten. For the brisket meal, it had no flavor whatsoever. It needed salt, but there was.no smokyness, no richness from rendered fat, or any type of rub. There was some type of sauce on it, but all I could taste was high school cafeteria meat. The beans also had no flavor. Usually, there's bacon, smoky, and often too much sugar, but these were semi-sweet, and that's it. The pork was Ok; just as the beef it had no sweet or smoky flavor, it just tasted like pork with a sweet sauce on it. Honestly, it was really disappointing because usually the best BBQ is found at these little roadside spots, but I didn't find that here. I've had BBQ from Faurbanks, Alaska, throughout Texas, Nevada, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, north and south csrolina, and most of it, even the BBQ in Alaska, has been good. This didn't compare. Phenomenal food and service! I don’t take it lightly saying this, but I believe this might just be the best barbecue I’ve ever had anywhere in the United States and I’ve eaten a lot of barbecue!!

Literally from the ribs, to the beef brisket to the smoked chicken was so tender, juicy, smoked just right, and full of flavor. Don’t get me started on the sides as the baked beans and ground meat is so savory and over the top the best I’ve ever had. Paired with the macaroni and cheese with that golden brown baked top on top of it is just an extra treat. So many other amazing items on the menu that I may have to go back in a few hours for dinner just to try some of the other things I didn’t get to try yet.

Big Daddy’s BBQ is Back – and Better Than Ever!

We’ve been going to Big Daddy’s BBQ in Vernon for a while now, and we were so excited to see them reopen for the season! They close for the winter and we’ve definitely missed them.

The family who owns it is incredibly friendly, and when they say they’re happy to see you back, they truly mean it. We’ve tried just about everything on their menu over time, and it’s always good! Tonight, we had the Loaded Nachos and BBQ chicken, and both were absolutely delicious! On Thursday, I had the (enormous) Bama Burger, and my grandkid got the loaded fries—both were amazing, and we even had leftovers after sharing with each other.
