Edited from 5 starts a few years ago down to 2 stars. We were so very excited to try Clearwater Cafe this year with legacy management and great possibilities especially with Hal Smith influence but then we were extremely disappointed. From the beginning, no silverware setups for 7 of us, I had to go find my own after the appetizers were served. We used to love the famous onion ring tower but it wasn't on the menu, then we saw a couple orders of it come out. Huh? All of their classic and wonderful appetizers are gone from the menu. Dinner: 3 overcooked dry chicken strips for $20, my son-in-law got a burger that was charcoaled black and way overcooked, he sent it back and 20 minutes later got another overcooked burger, wife got SW chicken grilled breast and the tiny chicken breast was so overcooked and dry she could barely cut it and could not finish it, my granddaughter got mac-n-cheese that looked out of a box and it came in basically a small ramican. The coconut shrimp was pretty good but it said it came with a sweet chili sauce yet it came with some kind of greenish marmalade. The catfish was good and the iceberg salad was good. When our server asked how everything was and I was honest, her reply was "well, I didn't cook it." No kidding, the reason you ask that as a server is so you can tell a manager, we never saw a manager during our entire visit. So sad we can't go to one of our favorite lake restaurants any more.
The OLD review: Always a great stop before or after a day on the lake. Philly Cheese Steak fries! The reuben is great and the catfish is as good as it gets! We usually go by boat but sometimes drive from the house for a steak on Friday night. They are always friendly and the food is...
Read moreThe staff was very friendly, service was good but the portions and the pricing was ridiculous. We ordered two pepper jack chicken appetizers, came with a chips and salsa for the side, substituted the chips and salsa for fried pickles on one order, it was only two chicken nuggets wrapped with bacon and cheese. The two nuggets wouldn't even as big as one chicken small chicken strip. Those two orders and one tea and one beer was almost $39. The chicken from both plates wouldn't add up to one and a half chicken strips and then they give us chips a little bitty portion of salsa and then charges an extra $6 for the fried pickles which we didn't get the chips and salsa for that...
Read moreJust had our first experience and it was awful! Our order sat for about 5 minutes and the staff members just kept walking right past it. The fries were plain but paid for bacon cheese fries, the three catfish were the size of my finger, the patty only covered half the bun and the Philly cheese steak was bland. Paid $70 and it was definitely...
