Tried it out to have something different. Lots of room and space, outside seating was good, lots of room for kids to run around and play. There is an area set up where they host live music. Some fireplace tables And some bench tables. Inside is roomy and a little bit loud due to echoing. We ended up sitting outside due to the kids wanting to play the oversized games provided. Waitstaff would come occasionally and check on you. But in order to actually have food and drinks you have to go inside to the counter and order what you want and then it will be brought out to you. Not sure if it works the same inside dining. I was not pleased with not being allowed to pay cash. We had separate checks and I wanted to pay cash. I was told that I couldn't or the girl at the register would have to start over with separating tickets and redoing the whole transactions. Sounded like she didn't feel like doing all of that. Food was alright wasn't the worst nor the best. Crawfish is currently pricey no matter where you go. They didn't have kids cups with lids which normally the kids get water so we basically had to spend 18 dollars on adult sodas just to have lids. Ridiculous because none of the drinks were even close to being finished by the time we left. So for the first time trying this place I was pretty dissapointed. Might give it another try...
Read moreTitle: The Shrimp Slayer of South Texas
If you think superheroes only exist in movies, clearly you’ve never been served by Danny at Franklin’s. By day, they’re just your average South Texan—charming smile, quick wit, and an uncanny ability to dodge flying shrimp tails. But by night, Danny transforms into The Shell-Shocker, the hero we didn’t know we needed.
Armed with nothing but a tray, a bottomless pitcher of sweet tea, and the patience of a saint, Danny takes on the messiest, hungriest crowds with ease. They navigate crabby customers like a seasoned captain in stormy seas, all while tossing out one-liners sharper than a lobster claw.
Need an extra napkin? BAM, they’re there. Forgot your extra garlic butter? WHOOSH, it’s already on the table. Drunkenly spilling your beer? They’ll mop it up faster than you can say “crawfish boil” and probably roast you for it while they’re at it.
Their real superpower, though, is making you feel like the most important person in the room—even when you’re elbow-deep in shrimp guts. Honestly, I’d tip them in gold if I could. Until then, I’ll just keep showing up, ready for another round of seafood and sass, courtesy of South Texas’ very own superhero.
If you want good food and legendary service, ask for Danny. Just don’t challenge them to a shrimp-peeling...
Read moreThe minute we walked through the door, we felt very welcomed. The two sweet ladies at the front took our order and started us a tab. Before our party of three could get our waters and use the restroom, both of our appetizers were out. Less than halfway through the appetizers, our boil was out! VERY quick food service and the food was delicious. We had the boudin balls, the raw oysters, and a crawfish/shrimp boil. We added some sausage links to our boil and the only feedback we had from our food experience was we would have liked the sausage added in the same bag as our boil for flavor purposes. But that’s more of a preference thing. Then we sat at the bar and had a few drinks. The bar staff was PHENOMENAL! Friendly, energetic, and made very good drinks. They have an outstanding selection in liquor and there isn’t much that they don’t have. We met the owners, who were working very hard along with the rest of their staff to make sure they had a smooth Sunday shift. This place is a little ways from home for us, but we will DEFINITELY...
