Heard about this place from a Facebook group I am in and decided to stop by and see what all the buzz was about. A co-worker and I arrived around 11:45 and placed our order. I got the 2 meat plate. Brisket, Pulled Pork and with my to sides i choose the Smoked Mac-n-Cheese and the Dirty Rice. Since it was my first visit I went ahead and got the Brisket Nachos as well. The brisket was very good and the pulled pork was right there with it. The nachos was on point as well. I would like to see if they would consider doing some special queso on the nachos and possibly consider the option of regular tortilla chips. That is just a personal preference and is not a knock on the wonderful food. We also had the opportunity to stand around and speak with the owner about BBQ. He was very friendly and you could tell he takes pride in his craft. I also noticed they honored veterans and that always is a major plus in my books. My co- worker and I was definitely impressed and look forward to eat here often. Thanks for the great food and the great conversation. I'll get food pics the next time we visit and...
Read moreMom raised me to always look for the positive in other people and to do my best to not criticize others. Well, sorry, Mom. I call a spade when I see one. I had been wanting to check out this BBQ stand for a long time. I see their support for Veterans and as a US Army Vet, I truly appreciate that they do. Now, let's get down to the food. Brisket plate w/ 2 sides & bread, onions & pickles: $12+ tax. Brisket was mostly fat. I had to trim off the fat in order to eat very little meat. The single slice of bread was soggy. The beans tasted from a can. The "loaded mashed potatoes" were nothing more than mashed potatoes with a few pieces of what I believe to imitation bacon and some sliced cheese. Do yourself a favor, avoid this place like the COVID virus. For great BBQ at a reasonable price, try either Bar b-q Depot (also on Highway 90 @ corner of Highway 105) or Wright's BBQ...
Read moreTraveling to Louisiana along I-10 and decided on BBQ on the route. Try to avoid chain restaurants. Jimmy Nick's had 4.8 stars and decided to try it out. It's a converted food truck/trailer with walk up window to order. Arrived about 1:15 pm and many items were already sold out. Had the chopped beef sammich and smoked Mac n cheese. Sammich comes with homemade chips, yes, homemade. Chopped beef was really good, big portion on the sammich. Chips were really good and plentiful. Smoked Mac n cheese was basically Velveeta Mac n cheese. It's was good, served hot, but lacking in the "smoked" flavoring. It's no coincidence that most items were sold out by 1pm. Outside covered seating on hand made picnic tables. Stop by and support this local...
