We wanted to come visit you last year for my father's birthday, but never got the chance. We excitedly made a reservation in advance for his birthday this year. We ordered 2 baskets of French fries, 2 baskets of pretzel bites, 5 pizzas, 2 sausage sampler platters (that were supposed to come with french fries as well), 7 beers and 5 root beer floats (for our party of 5 adults and 4 kids). They didn't have a wait staff which was fine, so we wrote down our order and went up to the front counter to order.
For starters the kids received regular root beers and when we brought it up to the staff they brought us a dish of ice cream for the kids to share and we were happy with that fix.
Our food started coming out, but at this point we needed refills on our beers. My dad (the birthday boy) went back up to order some beer refills, but the staff member stated they were out of the one he wanted to try as well as the one my brother wanted to try. My brother and father asked for yet another different beer opinion and they were also out of that opinion as well, so my father asked what do you have in stock? To me, that is a fair question when you have asked for items that are still available according to the menu, but the person at the counter informs you otherwise. The staff member then proceeded to roll her eyes and get an attitude with my father. So my father and brother stuck with their same original beer option they had for the first round.
The food taste wise was phenomenal. We we're shorted one pizza and the 2 french fry baskets (that were supposed to be included with the sausage sampler platters). My mom went up to let the kitchen staff know we were missing french fries and the same staff member that gave my father attitude rolled her eyes at my mom and walked away. She didn't say ope sorry about that or let my mom know they would fix the issue in any way.
My husband let the staff member on the grill (who had full sleeve tattoos) know we were missing a pizza and he was really nice about it. This person came out to our table to apologize for the missing pizza and let my husband know he would work on it and get it out as soon as possible. Give that guy a raise.
The beer selection was good (what they had in stock). We were excited to try the house beers that they make. My dad has been talking about it for a year. He liked the lager, but sadly couldn't try any of his other options he had in mind because they were on the menu, but out of stock.
The decor was cool. It is a really neat place (as long we you don't have to interact with a rude staff member).
Sadly, the staff member who has a cross tattoo on her right forearm and I think mountain peaks above her left elbow ruined our experience. My dad wanted to talk to a manager, but couldn't find someone to talk to besides the ill tempered staff member who gave both him and my mother attitude.
I know that times are tough to hire quality staff right now, but they could at least be nice. I am sad this was our experience.
To recap, the food was phenomenal, the drinks (that they had in stock) were good, but the poor attitude of one employee influenced a five star review to a three...
Read moreHeard about this place through word of mouth, and gave it a try. I called on a Friday night to see how busy they were, at 630pm there was only one seat available, so I made a reservation at 715pm for 3. It's settled back of the road, hidden by a row of pine tree, down a dirt driveway that leads to a house and barn. There was no sign out by the road, so I was a little worried at first that I was driving up to someone's house. Once you get up there you can see the parking lot and restaurant.
Once I got inside I was really impressed. The place I beautiful with the old rustic look. Even at 715pm there were only 3 tables available. We were immediately greeted and the gentleman brought my daughter some cheese curds and offered us some suggestions and samples of beers. We ordered a couple pizzas, a cheese platter, and a couple beers. The beers were delivered immediately, and the cheese platter was out within minutes. In only a few more minutes, both pizzas were out.
The pizzas were amazing. You can see the workers back in the open kitchen making and tossing the dough, and loading the pizzas into a stone fire oven. We ordered 2 pizzas because the menu said it would serve one to two people. Just one of these $14 pizzas easily would have served me my wife and my three year old daughter. The prices are beyond reasonable. I was amazed at the amount of food for cost you get. The beer selection was a variety of craft beers, and they had a variety of sausages and cheese spreads.
I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. Their customer service is what restaurants should strive to replicate. The food is delicious and exceptionally priced. The place is beautiful and clean. The only suggestion I could offer would be making the location easier to find with some sort of sign out front. Other than that, this place is truly a diamond in the rough for Germantown and...
Read moreOk, this is a hidden gem for some details! love to give 5 stars, but as said several Major issues on early Saturday afternoon, being open for a year and a half some/ most bugs should be worked out? Sadly Definitely not, and front door manager wanted is DEFINITELY NEEDED! ISSUE Walking in looking for a seat and a extremely small bar for a few appetizers to try,one staff member was seated at the bar? Next to a open seat I chose to give my bride the seat, and I stood WAY out of the register area and was RUDELY informed by a larger girl some relationship to the business you can't stand here! Ok, the next seat was taken by another employee on his Arse pizza Mysterio not! Never in 40 year's in the food service did I see terribly burnt stone fired pizzas come out! Definitely took a pass! Their laptop timer system did not correct for oven temps are just blatant operator error? Tables not bussed, staff too many clueless, standing around , No prices on the sausage counter per pound? The one draw, Not sure if scales and measures State of Wisconsin would agree with this practice is it what you feel like? Or the temperature that day?or the dow Jones average? stated items were for sale!
I believe a good manager could properly train and staff this interesting place, Positive points the sausage plater was good and served fast! The micro beers good, and our server Sierra was FABULOUS!! The no sign out front & word of mouth may draw many, but as always great reviews don't travel as far as terrible ones. NEXT YEAR will give em...
