SOL DE MEXICO RESTAURANT OF VIRDEN ILLINOIS — Restaurant in Virden

My experience was an unfortunate one that leads me to not return and make a public awareness that the location and its quality of food was satisfactory. However the services rendered were in unacceptable. The employee was yelling profanities while my children were present alone with other patrons in the location trying to enjoy their meal also. When I approached the manager Mario regarding her absurd behavior he explained that he works extended hours to operate the location however can’t get a better employee in this area as the applicants are limited due to the area. That’s inexcusable for the behavior that I witnessed this manager tolerate from an employee who was insubordinate with him as well as unprofessional inside his place of business. I explained to him it is something that he CAN prevent from occurring. Keeping an employee who runs away good business is bad for his business. Despite the hours of operation he’s required to fulfill. If he had been the only staff available that would be more understandable than the experience that myself and my family had to encounter. I hope this place gets multiple applications from people who are willing to work in a professional manner to serve our community with the level of service that’s required when operating a restaurant, even in our area. The last I came into this place was with a large group of family who spent a couple hundred dollars on food and drink. I ordered a horseshoe sandwich and when they brought it it had very little cheese sauce on it. I asked if I could possibly get a little cup of more cheese sauce to pour onto it and was told no unless I paid for it. I showed them how little cheese sauce was on it, and he said that the cook told him it was the normal amount they put on and if I wanted more I would have to pay. I told them I would never return, nor would any other of the party. For probably no more than 12 cents worth of cheese sauce at most, they lost about a dozen peoples future business. The place looks a little rough. The sign on the front of the building is broken and the decorations inside dont set much of an ambiance. The food is what you expect. It is your basic tex-mex. I had the "chimichanga lovers" platter. It was on special for 11.50, which seemed pricey for the small size of the chimichangas. Despite all this, the staff was very nice. I was eating with family. This included two kiddos that liked to argue and couldn't sit still. The staff never batted an eye or looked irritated. All in all, it was good service...
