Bella Sicilia Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Virginia

I contacted this restaurant because we were planning to celebrate a milestone birthday, for family, a couple of years ago. I discovered the restaurant, via their web site, after doing an internet search for the Goochland area. The restaurant is relatively new and I really like the name of the restaurant, too (sounded good on the invitations we mailed to guests). Since the majority of our relatives live close to Goochland (particularly the older ones), we decided to have it there, versus Richmond, to accommodate them and also so most relatives could easily attend. I was concerned as to whether or not I would find a suitable restaurant which was very nice and offered the amount of space we needed. I was delighted when I saw Bella Sicilia had a separate banquet room which was private, spacious enough and has nice decor. Their website looks really good and details their menu options. The menu items are very reasonable and the food was very tasty. Since the pictures, on their website, were really good, I did not have to make a trip down there (which is a couple of hours from my house) to check it out before making the reservation. The owner/manager (SALVO) was great to work with from beginning to end. We simply reserved the banquet room through him (no down payments, etc. was required which was a huge plus) and decided upon which four menu items we wanted to select for our guests to choose from (they also offer gluten-free dishes). The waitresses were friendly and attentive. They brought out the four menu options, on paper, so each guest could select which one they wanted along with their soft drink. We were able to come in a couple of hours before they opened (the celebration started at 12:00 PM Noon) and decorate the room with birthday decorations. They also allowed us to leave the birthday cake with them, in their kitchen, while we decorated. There was no additional fee to bring the cake in or for the use of their dishes, forks and cake cutting knife. The fee, for the banquet room, was reasonable (only around $45.00) when you consider each meal was only $13.00 per person (which includes a soft drink beverage, tax & tip/gratuity). There is ample free parking, at the restaurant, and the area it's located in is well-maintained. Spent over $100 for 3 adults and 2 toddlers. Child spaghetti sauce had no flavor and was delivered on an adult plate with adult (large) forks. Which were impossible for a 2 year old to use. Waitress did not stop back by the table, so my daughter walked to ice cream counter and snagged two plastic spoons. I had chicken Alfredo and the chicken tasted like it came out of a can. Salad was good. But the salad plate remained on the table the entire time. Even though it was eaten way ahead of food being delivered. 2 medium pizzas were amazing. Chocolate milk shake was so so. (Only ordered one) but was not worth $8.99

Felt like we were an inconvenience to the waitress, like she wasn't really listening to us. When we got ready to leave she was clearing another table and she literally stopped what she was doing at that table and watched us walk out. (We gave her out credit card to process our ticket, so she knows we paid). Sorry. Just was bot impressed. Meals were definitely not worth the over $100 we paid. And yes I knew the prices of the meals, so the rating is not based on the total cost...

This place is terrible! We went as a somewhat large group (12 people) for a graduation dinner. We arrived at 6:30 and had our drink orders taken. We didn’t see our waiter again for over a half hour and then our food order was taken. Salads were brought out 3 at a time spaced 5 minutes apart, mine being the exception as it was not delivered at all until we asked. Half of our table had to ask for more silverware because the forks had food stuck to them. We asked for more bread that was never brought. The food was ok, not great but not terrible. The checkout process at this place seems to be walking up to the register and telling them what you ordered and them giving you a total. My bill total was relayed as $65.94 to which I added a $10 tip even though the service was poor. The bill seemed high but we were ready to leave so I payed and we left. On adding it up on their online website I see my bill should have been $51.57 +tip. We were charged an extra $14 for terrible service and meh food.
