A one star review is even generous for this place.
I visited the dublin, va DQ on Saturday, July 1 at 4pm... After the lunch rush, before the dinner rush.. I went into the store to order, and there were about 4 people in line ahead of me. It took me 10 mins waiting in line before I could place my order, but luckily, my food (2 $5 deluxe boxes) came out within 5 mins. The problem is that it took a whopping 20 mins after my food arrived for my two chocolate sundaes to arrive.... What?!! I specifically ordered my food to-go so I would expect my sundaes to be ready within minutes of my food being ready. All the customers there waited around 20 mins each to receive their ice-cream orders
The other issue, and its a big one. I never been to a food establishment that was so dirty. Behind the counter there was food and melted ice cream all over the floor. The counter was covered in trash. The dinning area was covered in trash, both on the tables and the floor. The trash can was overflowing. It was absolutely disgusting.
The workers did not move with urgency and never apologized to anyone for the wait. They were careless, not friendly at all and seem to make no notice of the group of people who had been waiting at the counter for 20+ mins for their ice cream. There were also workers just walking around not doing anything at all, totally oblivious. The person who looked like they could be the manager was just sitting in the office with the door open, chatting with another worker instead of helping to get customers their food.
I've never been to a food establishment so poorly run and maintained. It was the worst experience I have ever had at a fast food place. This is not the only negative review this location has had... Seems like these issues have been a problem for the last year. Unbelievable. Who owns this place? Have a...
Read moreVisited this Dairy Queen on Sunday, July 2nd around 6pm. We've camped at Claytor Lake for years so we knew to expect the lengthy waits in the drive through but today's wait was extra long so after 10 minutes waiting to move one inch in the drive-through we decided we'd just walk in and order. We waited another 15 minutes or more before our order could even be placed. This annoyed me because honestly who's not prepared with extra staff and at least a small amount of organization on 4th of July weekend at Claytor Lake? I mean, this is your equivalent of Black Friday!! The wait I have honestly dealt with had the staff acknowledged that everyone was frustrated instead of talking to each other about everything except what they should have been doing. Once my order was placed which I had to repeat 4 times and 3 of those times it was put in wrong (and no I don't have a speech problem) the milk shakes came fairly quickly. Of course one was not right which was fine with the "dude" behind the counter cause he took it and gave it to his buddy in the back while a line of more than 15 people waited to place orders. Then this same dude (Tristen, I believe is what his tag said) stood in the back eating some kind of food out of the prep area before he came out to FINALLY make my large cone which he put the sprinkles on with his bare hand...THE SAME HAND HE JUST SHOVED A BUNCH OF FOOD FROM THE PREP AREA INTO HIS MOUTH WITH!!!!!!!! I was livid! I through the cone away because I didn't want to give it to my kid after that. I've dealt with the slow drive through for years and we've been coming to the lake every weekend in the summer for 17 years but I will not go back again because slow I can handle but unsanitary is unacceptable!! The whole place looks like a...
Read moreWell, I guess you could say that you don't know what you're going to get at DQ from one worker to another. (You can view their website for menu items and specials etc) On one visit, the chicken baskets were hot and delicious! Three gravy was warm and the Texas toast done to near perfection (for a fast food joint). The blizzards were made the way DQ would expect their employees to do. As a matter of fact, the drive thru lady turned the blizzards upside quickly to show that they were made properly. Thick, cold, and tasty! Yet--our next visit was a disaster. The chicken dinner was cold! The chicken was like jerky! So gross. The gravy was thick and lumpy. The toast was so old that you'd likely pull a tooth out before you could pull a bite size portion from the cold bread. It was weird! The blizzards were worse! As the lady handed them to me, the melted contents came out of the straw hole. Within moments, they were milkshakes with pieces of whatever flavored them on the bottom. You couldn't drink it through a straw because pieces of...say Reeses...clogged it. You couldn't eat it because it was like cold soup you had to slurp. DQ has always been a favorite Summer fast food treat for us...but after the last visit, not so much. It was a waste of money. I suggest trying food in parking lot before heading out. Though I tend to not like complaining to staff at a fast food place. Best suggestion--eat inside. They have plenty of seating and after you are done you can walk to the gas station/convient store next door. It's located just off I81 at exit 101. Super easy to locate. Plus, if you do get a good meal--you could take it down the road to Claytor Lake and enjoy it at a picnic table...
