If there were not a winery, brewery and distillery attached I would still make the trek to Green Ribbon. Their FB posts (like a siren's song) called me there with beautiful images of food. Fitting that three sisters, hospitality veterans including Le Cordon Bleu accreditation, operate the business.
Not sure what to expect, I learned that Green Ribbon is a cart that’s tucked to the side of the bar at Old House Vineyards. The menu both on a large printed board and in paper provided lots of good choices. From appetizers to meals there’s a changing repertoire for anyone. Fancy, friendly, vegan - you name it. They have your number.
For instance, we chose the shakshuka and a pulled pork sandwich. Where I don’t usually favor meals on trays or in plastic bowls, this worked. The shakshuka, a roasted tomato and peppers combo with eggs, was clearly homemade with thoughtful touches of feta and herbs. BTW - Green Ribbons likes and has good cheese choices.
The pulled pork sandwich spiked with Old House’s tequila must have been really good. My wife finished it, the house made slaw without offering me a bite - unusual. In her words, “I didn’t know I was that hungry”. Maybe it was just how good it was.
Though I only tried a few things on the menu, we are looking forward to going back. Oh and did I mention there’s a brewery, distillery and...
Read moreI think it's important for people to know our experience could easily be theirs. We went today when we found Green Ribbon via Google Maps. Looks like a great facility, but as it was 2:30 all we were interested in was lunch. I waited more than 30 minutes in line to order -- starting out tjere were maybe 12-15 people ahead of me -- to eventually see a sign that said once you ordered, the wait was 45-60+ minutes (!). As I still hadn't made it to the front of the line, that meant the two hot dogs and fries we wanted would take 90+ minutes from the time I got in line. Obviously we left (went to Grill 309 in Culpeper, really good). Green Ribbon's kitchen is apparently tiny or very badly managed. If you go, plan on a very long wait for food. Others confirmed their food took well over an hour AFTER waiting in line a really long...
Read moreHoly guacamole. Me, my son, and his wife went today to Old House to try Green Ribbon for brunch. I'd heard good things and had been wanting to go. Super friendly service, and the food..... the food was sooooo good. Honestly this was one of the best "eating out" experiences I've had in a while. Seems like every place is disappointing lately. Well, not Green Ribbon. I am not the biggest quiche fan, but had to try their special of artichoke crab quiche. One bite and I knew I'd made the right choice. My daughter in law got the Eggs Benedict Fries, and my son got the Steak Frites & Eggs. Both raved about their food. Oh, and the Garlic White Cheddar Cheese Curds are a must get! I can't wait to go back!
I think I kind of "dragged" them there.... when we left the were both so happy we'd went!...
