2024... Careless, slow, dirty Brown lettuce on a simple sandwich is gross
UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2023
WOW! THE NEW MENU IS AMAZING THE FOOD IS SO GOOD. LOTS OF BOLD FLAVORS. WITH THE AC BEING FIXED & THIS NEW MENU TROJAN HAS A LOT GOING FOR THEM AND IF YOU HAVEN'T GIVEN THEM A CHANCE IN A WHILE I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT... Also Thursday night trivia never disappoints!!!
Original post: The service was great. The food was awful. Raw chicken (even though the old bay wings would have been good) Brussel sprouts couldn't be chewed (too hard) and the overall taste of the food was average. Nice atmosphere, nice server... good drinks... HORRIBLE COOK!
Update 2022
Ate here again Saturday May 21. We ordered fried pickles as the app, I got the bbq platter and my husband got truffle fries.unfortunately I've removed a star since the last visit. The pickles weren't done right, the skin was so tough that the pickles just slid right out. A suggestion would be to do pickle chips... My husband ordered truffle fries because they weren't serving pizza...again. it is really the only thing he likes there. My bbq was good but tasted microwaved. Im not sure how it was heated but the method used wasn't working well. The truffle fries were a bit soggy or undercooked, not sure which. They were out of makers mark and tried to give me a shot of something else less equivalent in price. I was also disappointed that steak wasn't an option for salad topping. They have a ny strip on the menu. There were a lot of flies in the bar area and one worker was in the kitchen cussing up a storm. He kept coming out to watch basketball and staring myself and my husband down, so much to where it almost caused a scene! We could hear him over the live music. Please make some changes. This place could be great and should not have been that empty on a Saturday night.
Update august 25 2022
Huge improvement! Mizz sticks, pretzel, pizza and wrap was very good. Serv was quick!!!
Update back to 1 star...
We absolutely love trivia night. We have been going consecutively weeks now. We only go to this restaurant for trivia. The last month, every time we have gone they have been either really really busy or really really slow. No matter how busy or how slow, the service is always at a snail's pace. 3 weeks ago my entire table never even got food no one ever took our order. I was so happy that day because management made an exception as it was a very busy night and let us where we could play trivia. They accommodated us and I was so happy. But we had a waitress with pink hair who never ever checked on our table after ordering drinks. The lady that I was with ordered food and never got it. We got our appetizers but we never got anything beyond that and I never got a chance to order. The week after that my husband and son and I went. It wasn't as busy had the same server, and we still did not get great service. What really disturbed us was a woman that I've never seen working there walked to the pizza side came out of that side with the entire head of lettuce, no gloves and March that entire head of lettuce through the restaurant to the kitchen door by the bathroom. That is disgusting. I was really excited and really hoped that management had gotten this place together however after our recent visits it just has not been. If I must elaborate last week when we went there was a new waitress, she was very attentive very good very sweet. However she was not trained very well my husband ordered a double neat of house bourbon and got charged $25 for a double. They did not compost for it she said, to speak the bartender now we can come back next time and he can get a double of house bourbon for free. That's not equivalent to $25. I am the type of person who would love to be able to go to Trojan and just get appetizers and enjoy trivia, but I don't feel like that's fair to the staff or the owners... Please please get your...
Read moreI was pretty excited about checking out this new restaurant, however I was disappointed. I'd like to offer my feedback but please know it is only constructive criticism, as I realize this is a new business and things happen. First when walking in the door, we were not greeted by anyone for what seemed a couple of minutes, we were confused if we should have sat ourselves or not. I'd definitely recommend a greeter/hostess. After being seated, it took about 15-20 minutes before we were greeted and asked what we'd like to drink. It took another 15-20 minutes until our waitress came to us and took our order. Waiting about another 25-30 minutes, our appetizer finally came out. The ranch served with the fried pickles was very good! Then maybe another hour before our main dish came out. There was a couple who sat close to us who were served first with drinks and order taking, even though we arrived at the restaurant about 20 minutes before them. The couple who sat behind me mentioned the same thing. The food was not terrible, but it was not worth the over 1.5 hour wait. I ordered the BLT and was told the restaurant ran out of bacon. Which happened to a couple tables behind me, however they were not made aware of that. Fine, no problem, I choose another item I was eyeing. We finished our meal and had to wait another 25 minutes before the waitress finally came to our table. We had our credit card laying out ready to go for when we received the check because we did not want any further delay. However, we never received the check, the waitress took it upon herself to go ahead and grab the card without showing us our check. We had no idea what we were paying for or the total. Upon her coming back to the table with the check, she quickly dropped it off without a word, not a "thank you" or "have a nice day" or "sorry about the wait", nothing. We did not receive an itemized check either, so I had no idea what we were truly paying for and the items charges. To be honest I did not want to wait around another 20+ mins to find out, so I did not inquire. I will say as we were leaving walking towards the door she did wish us well with having a good day. The restaurant is beautiful, I'd hate to see it go downhill. We were asked a few times if we needed our drinks refilled, or if there was anything we needed. We were approached by a couple of staff members asking that, not just our waitress. So that was a plus. I realize they could not make the food come any faster, so there was no reason to bother them with that, it was out of their hands. The staff was not rude, they were all friendly, and I could tell they were overwhelmed but hid it professionally, and had smiles for everyone. I give them props for that, because it was a huge lunch crowd with overwhelming demands and negative feedback. Several people got up and walked out during the 2 hours we spent there. I know it's rough in the beginning but I have faith it will eventually all come together for...
Read moreThe atmosphere was welcoming and laid-back, making it an ideal spot for a nice and casual meal. Despite having a fairly large party, including two toddlers, they were able to accommodate us comfortably.
To kick off our meal, we ordered the fried pickles and mozzarella sticks as appetizers. The fried pickles had the perfect crunch and were bursting with flavor, while the mozzarella sticks were crispy and absolutely delicious.
For my main course, I opted for the classic burger with added onions and mayo. The burger was cooked to perfection with a delightful char and juicy center. It hit the spot just right. As a side, I went for the Brussels sprouts, which were crispy and complemented by a delightful sweet Thai Chili sauce. I highly recommend trying this combination.
My husband decided to go for the McDoogle burger, which he thoroughly enjoyed. The burger had a unique and flavorful sauce that elevated its taste. He chose tater tots as his side, and they didn't disappoint either.
When it came time for dessert, we couldn't resist indulging further. I ordered the salted caramel cheesecake, and it was an absolute show-stopper. The flavors were divine, and it left me craving for more. My husband went for the brownie, which was rich and paired perfectly with a generous scoop of ice cream. Even the toddlers were delighted with their desserts.
Throughout the meal, our server Caroline provided exceptional service. She was attentive and friendly, ensuring that we had everything we needed to enjoy our dining experience.
Speaking of the toddlers' meals, they were also a hit. One had a quesadilla with fresh fruit, and the other opted for a grilled cheese with fries. Both kids thoroughly enjoyed their meals, and the fresh fruit was...
