Wildwood BBQ — Restaurant in Virginia

Review after 1st visit to a new place in town. Went mid afternoon on Sat, after trying during lunch time on weekday only to find the line too long to be able to get served in the time i had availble. Ordered the Brisket plate dinner.

Excellent BBQ with good range of menu options including Ribs, pulled pork, Brisket, and several Sides (dont recall if they had chic,ken or not, but I focused in on the brisket, once i saw it, and didn't pay much attention to the rest of the menu after that. - the mini corn muffins are worth getting an extra side of them when you order a dinner plate (which comes with 2, that somehow disappered before i was half done with the plate ; ) requiring me to go back for an additional side order of them. Happy Happy Happy.

The place is somwhat small, with about 8-10 booths and 4-6 4 top tables as i recall.

Not anything fancy - but clean and nice, with Great Food!. And they have take out. which seems to be accounting for a sizable chunk of the orders i observed while there.

Highly Recommend Wildwood to anyone with a taste for BBQ, ...or a place to take visiting friends from out of town who like BBQ...

My wife and I moved to Powhatan a few years ago, and like most other transplants, we had to try all the local cuisine. We stopped into Wildwood Bar-B-Que shortly after moving in to try the ribs and the pulled pork sandwich. The staff was great, but we left with the impression that the food was just ok. The ribs were hard to cut and really stuck to the bone. It may have been an off day, but we weren’t planning to return.

Fast forward to the fall of 2023, a friend mentioned there was a new owner at Wildwood and felt the food was much better. So, desperate as always for new food experiences in Powhatan, my wife and I returned and placed the same orders as our first visit. It was a complete 180°. The ribs were falling apart, and the house barbeque sauce was fantastic. At the staff's suggestion, my wife got her pulled pork sandwich “sauced and slawed” and she couldn’t put it down (for multiple reasons).

Since then, we’ve been back a few times, and our only complaint is the lines keep getting longer. When I made this joke to the nice lady at the counter, she pointed out that they now accept orders online. 10/10...

Delicious BBQ! New to Powhatan about a year ago and just now getting around to trying this wonderful little spot. We had the NC BBQ platter and the Brisket platter. Best pork and brisket I’ve eatten in a long while. The pork was not overly sauced so you could really taste the smokiness of the pork. The brisket was not too fatty nor too lean and the flavor was excellent! The homemade sauces were spot on in flavor. But my favorite bites on the platters were the corn muffins (so so so good) and the hush puppies- oh I could eat an entire plate of those hush puppies by themselves! Best hush puppies I’ve ever had.
