My husband and 2 elderly neighbors stopped for a beer and were extremely disappointed with our experience. Upon entering the establishment and waiting patiently for the bartender, it was clear she did not want to help us. She abruptly told us while refusing eye contact, "If you are outside, there are servers who can take your order." My 80 year old neighbor explained to her that we were at the picnic tables, which directs us to the bartender for self service. She threw us menus and while my husband was in the restroom, I ordered two bottled beers: one for my neighbor and his friend, who was waiting for us at the picnic table outside. The bartender slammed the beers down and when my husband returned, decided he wanted the same kind of beer as my neighbors. I ordered two more politely and after she rolled her eyes and said, "one minute" she snarled at me, "Is there anything else you want while I'm over there? I'd really like to get it all at the same time." For the record, there were probably 2 other patrons sitting at the bar. I shook my head no, in shock at her tone. Later my husband and I wanted to try the local brewed beer, and he ordered the IPA. The beer looked like apple juice- no bubbles, not a trace of any foam but it tasted worse; like chemicals and/or something went wrong while it was being brewed. Or possibly it was old. We didn't want to complain after our unpleasant service with the rude bartender. Overall terrible experience and we will...
Read moreReview for Mother’s Day Experience
I am writing to share our disappointing experience at Reads Landing Brewing Co today, which has tainted a once-beloved Mother’s Day tradition for our family. This was a special day to celebrate my husband’s mom, and we were really looking forward to enjoying drinks together.
Upon arriving, we were informed that we could not be seated at a table, as we only wanted drinks and would have to order from the bar instead. When we inquired about the possibility of sitting at an inside table, especially since my mother-in-law uses a walker, we were told that we could not, as it would take up a dining table.
This response was disheartening, particularly because this restaurant has been a place of joy for our family, known for its amazing Bloody Marys that my mother-in-law loves. However, being asked to sit outside at a picnic table, especially given her mobility limitations, felt dismissive and unaccommodating.
Ultimately, we decided to leave and find a restaurant that could better accommodate our family’s needs on this special occasion. We are genuinely disappointed, as this was meant to be a heartfelt celebration. We hope that in the future, Reads Landing Brewing Co, can provide better options for families wanting to enjoy their time together, especially on significant days like Mother’s Day. (There were no others waiting for tables, and there were 3-4 open tables inside when...
Read moreOne afternoon while having lunch I found myself seated on the open patio of Reads Landing Brewing Company enjoying the panoramic view of the mighty Mississippi. A restored historic, two-story store front building on the Great River Road with unobstructed view of the river and its seasonal boaters in the summer and eagles in the winter. Indoor seating with tables and chairs, bar seating on hardwood floors, tinplate ceiling and the traditional beer signs and historical framed photos lining the walls. Outdoor patio with a pergola, ceiling fans, metal patio tables and chairs and vintage beer signs. Menu offers a selection of locally produced fish, poultry and meats, soups and salads and a line of craft tap beer. Local grain is milled on-site, not just for beer but for their burger buns. My Jerk Chicken Tacos came with two nicely filled flour tortillas with pulled chicken tossed in their home-made jerk seasoning covered with a pineapple, cilantro salsa, shredded lettuce and a creamy sriracha sauce. A side of fries and a pickle slice. Presentation was simple, food delicious with a slight kick and service commendable. Prices seemed a bit high for a lunch menu. Warning to those, like myself, wishing to wonder over to the lakeside that the tracks you cross can be busy at times....
