Lake George Tavern — Restaurant in Wales

Went for dinner and ordered Nachos, order came out with cheese on 4 nachos that was it. Went back few nights later and ordered off the lunch special menu. Shepards Pie. $7.95 asked waitress if that was still available, she checked and yes it was... bill came and they jacked the price to $12.95 dinner rate. Time to find somewhere else to go. 8/6/19 Well gave them another try.... HOLY CHIT have they really gone down hill. Friday night special fish trio $22.00 ordered baked with a "baked" potato and carrots. Plus an app. of calamari Waited close to 30mins and was watching customers getting their orders who had came in and ordered after us. Waitress comes over said sorry for delay they lost our order. Calamari came out sitting in oil no flavor at all. Main dishes came out and OMFG!! potato was rock hard, sent it back and came back in a minute waitress says " I hope this is better". they nuked it for 45 seconds still rock hard. the dish itself... they didn't even bake the dish it had to have been nuked as well... the bread crumb was poured over everything and was cold to the touch.. Carrots Lukewarm. Asked for management, was told he was too busy in kitchen to come out.... FIND A NEW JOB PLEASE!!!! can't stand the heat get the hell out of the kitchen you suck...

Today was the 1st time I revisited the restaurant since a terrible experience 9 mo ago. I am very happy that I chose to do so. I experienced some of the best service I've had from my waiter Evan tonight, who made sure to be engaging, personable, and professional. I also tried a Burger from the new revamp of the menu. The burger I had (irish banger) exceeded all my expectations and is honestly one of the best I've had. It was cooked exactly as requested and the flavor profile worked amazingly. This burger definitely rivals any gourmet burger place in the city (Plan B in Springfield and the Fix in Worcester come to mind) and I daresay it outshines some of the burgers I've had at those restaurants. Overall tonight was a huge change from the last time I visited; the food, the staff, and even the atmosphere all show qualityimprovements. If I had to complain at all it would be about pricing. The quality of food I got tonight didn't make me feel I was robbed, but $18 for a burger in a small town restaurant is still a little on the high side. First time a group of us went here. Portions are big and some of the food was good. Burgers are too dry for most of our tastes though even at medium rare, they must be using super lean meat. The biggest complaint that I have is they charged my credit card 3 times for a $100 bill before my bank put a fraud alert on my card and locked it down. The waitress still attempted to swipe my card two more times but was declined so she came back to the table to speak to us after she had already put $250+ worth of charges on my card and I still had to pay $100 on another card while my bank dealt with the fraud alert. They have promised to refund my money that was overcharged but would not give it back in cash so I'm out a lot of money for at least a few days. I can see the first charge being a mistake and I should have been notified. The second charge without being notified is straight up bad. The 3rd, 4th and 5th attempted charges is just criminal. If my bank hadn't shut down my card they would have gotten at least $500 from me.

Go for a $100 meal and leave nearly $400 less but with a promise of a refund.
