I will never be back! I visited on a Friday morning, planning on enjoying a coffee while my kids enjoyed story time. A woman with her two small kids came in right before us- she was carrying a gun on her hip. Not concealed, just right there at kid level. I was alarmed, so I mentioned something to the barista (who had also noticed the woman and the gun). She said she would call Mama D to see how she should handle the situation. The barista came back to me a few minutes later and said, “Mama D is Republican and supports carrying guns so she supports this woman bringing her gun here, even to story time.” I was shocked- I made sure that it had been made very clear to the owner that it was not concealed and the woman was headed to CHILDREN’S story time with it in plain view and reach of all of these kids! Political affiliation aside, I just could not believe the flippant disregard for children’s safety...

First time to this location. This one is on a quiet street near the Glacial Drumlin Bike Trail. It's an older building that has been lovingly card for. It's interior is nicely furnished with different tables, with lots of natural light through the big front windows.

Ordered a couple of lattes (one coffee, one chai), with a yummy piece of bakery. Everything was very good. The servers were pleasant, efficient, and helpful.

One small gripe. The screen door is old fashioned (like the one we have at home). It does not have a "closer" on it, and it slams. Many of the people that come in know this. But when the person does not (like our first time), the door slams, making a loud bang, which can be very startling. Maybe they could find a solution to stop the banging?

Would definitely...

I've been a patron here since the day it opened. A prerequisite for a good coffee shop should always be good coffee and Mama D's surpasses all area coffee shops on this point. From the perspective of someone who roasts their own coffee at home, I can say with confidence that Mama D's will satisfy even the most persnickety coffee snob.

Beyond the coffee, the atmosphere of each location is warm and inviting. The staff are quite friendly and represent the quality training received from Mama D herself.

As a third point of evaluation, I believe the bathrooms tell the story of any establishment. And on this point, Mama D's shows attention and care for cleanliness, which communicates love and care for customers.

All around superb...

One of the best, local coffee shops I've been to in awhile. I love the old charm/aesthetic of the building. It's located on the corner of a quiet residential area (must be a bike trail near by. Lots of bikers on the road and in the cafe). Staff were friendly and efficient. Quiche was delicious- even the crust was flaky and leaving me wanting more. Coffee was Valentine and smooth; I had a flavored latte. We also snagged some cute "coffee" tees and sticker. The cafe offers a variety of bottled beverages as well as fresh eggs and ice cream from Mullens. We opted to sit inside due to the possible rain but there's a patio with seating outside. Cannot wait to go back.

The owner or manager was very friendly to me, showing me the Valentine Coffee Roasters (Milwaukee) descriptions and certifications of coffees in stock, and offering me samples of pour-over coffee as well as alternative milks for coffee. Right off of the Glacial Drumlin Bike Trail, a refreshingly hip-style stop for a Madison and Milwaukee resident. Serving Organic and some Fair Trade coffee, baked oatmeal, quiche, bakery, and many other drinks, breakfast, and lunch options. This is the place to check out in Wales. Cool Vintage shop next door with odd hours and odd assortments of things.
