On July 6th at noon, I brought my family to this restaurant, which was almost the only option besides the buffet at the Turkey Run Inn. The variety of food and the decor created a nice atmosphere, giving me some expectations. However, everything went downhill after the food arrived.
Firstly, the waitress knocked over our pizza, then picked it up from our table and put it back on the paper plate. She said she would get us a new one, but we never received it before we left. The chicken sandwich was terrible, made directly from canned chicken. I can't believe I ate canned chicken in a restaurant! The pretzel looked like it had been soaked in oil for a long time; the whole surface was wrinkled and it was very greasy, so we barely touched it. The only edible item seemed to be the BLT quesadilla, but there was no bacon to be seen inside.
Shortly after eating a bit, I had diarrhea right in the restaurant. I could see almost undigested food accompanied by black liquid (possibly the coke I just drank). This really concerned me, and I have reported this restaurant to the health department.
Additionally, when we were leaving, the waitress called us back and asked us to clean our table. However, none of the other tables around us cleaned up before leaving; it was done by the staff, yet only we were asked to clean up. I felt discriminated against or unfairly treated.
Overall, this dining experience was terrible. The service and food quality were both disappointing. I will definitely not return and do not recommend this...
ย ย ย Read moreFood is just okay, but if you're staying at Turkey Run or Shades, it's one of the only options for food outside the Inn unless you want to drive into nearby Rockville. However, the reason I am giving such a low rating is the staff - 2 members of our party ordered alcoholic beverages and were carded, but we were sitting at a table with others who did not have their ID on them. There was some inconsistent communication from the individuals on staff who brought us said beverages. I understand they don't want to get in trouble by serving people who may not be of age/can't prove it, but don't knowingly hand the alcohol to someone who states up front they don't have ID (despite clearly being over 40), send another staff member out to say something snarky that insinuates you're going to look the other way, and then send yet another another staff member to interrogate us and tell us we can't drink unless we have ID. They obviously only care about covering themselves, since they allow outside alcohol to be brought in and consumed on their premises and don't card anyone under those circumstances (other members of our party were drinking beer they brought in and were not asked to show ID at any point) . Anyway, definitely bring your ID and have it present at all times if you drink here, unless you bring your own alcohol. Then you can...
ย ย ย Read moreI live in IN, went to this place last year. They closed for off season and I marked on my calendar when they would re-open. We went last weekend and we won't go back. This was my favorite place to eat last year. This past visit it was not the same, I guess it all depends on who they hire for the season? Food wasnt the same; sloppy wrap loaded with ranch dressing which didnt taste as good. The worse part was my Nacho Supreme; ordered it without 3 ingredients and it was brought to the table by a young female that seemed like it was a bother to her all 3 things I opted out of were on it. I wanted taco meat on it, which is didnt see and she says with a smart comment that the meat "was" put on, it was under the tortilla chips. I ordered nachos instead of a taco salad because I wanted the liquid cheese on it, not the shredded. It was nachos supreme with tortilla chips, the taco meat and shredded cheese. In what world do nachos and cheese have shredded cheese? what an absolute shame, I couldn't wait for them to open for the season start and after my 1 visit i won't go back. I can get crap food and...
