Now I am not a person to gripe about little things, however... even as a prior service member of the military, it is not mine or any customer's responsibility to de-escalate a situation with another customer. Reguardless if im a tough guy or not so that being said, to highlight the situation I am referring to is a slightly busy day, with one party on the Chocolate / desserts, aka the non-restaurant side of Burdick's, getting an order for their family. I am a rather very polite person, and I intuitively, as well visually, could see the slight anxiety / stress to make things perfect, also to get it done immediately for the customer... I sympathize with this, as I personally have participated in kitchen / tea lounge work. I decided to mosey within the small space (5' area) and to not hawk perch pray the register; I did so for approximately 8-12 minutes until a polite young lady asked if I had been helped yet. I replied with, "No, ma'am, I have not yet." Then, an impolite individual walked in straight adjacent to me on my side and starts rattling off his order as if he owned the place and was waiting 1st; this is also as I am pointing to what I patiently & politely waited to order. I pursed my lips and remained quiet as to refrain from saying something impolite as this individual made clear eye contact with me and knew fully that he just cut me in line. It should be on the employees to practice good customer service skills by advocating to the unspoken rules of acting accordingly as well adhearing to respectful preschool taught behavior such as waiting your turn in line. After this individual odered, they (employee) moved on to me, I shook my head no the quietly & polietly walked out without a word said. So hey if the tourest keep ya afloat and you don't care to stick up for all your customers don't get upset if someone matches someone eles impolite mannerisums.💯🇺🇸🫡 Semper Fidelis Burdick's. Read moreWe're extremely unimpressed. My lady and I went for our 4 year anniversary. Our reservations were at 6:30. We got seated and from there we felt mostly ignored the entire time. Especially when the staff catered mostly to the regulars and their friends coming through the door. One the wait staff even seemed to turn her nose up to us as she passed by.
I'm a classically trained chef who's been the head chef of a few places and honestly I've never been more underwhelmed in my life... The food was way too expensive for how bland it tasted. We ordered a rib eye and their bistro burger. Both were cooked to specifications as far as doneness is concerned ish... but both lacked flavor. I can easily make better steak at home. The burger was soggy and completely raw in the middle, no bacon what so ever as was listed on the menu... plus I had to eat it with a knife and fork do to how wet it was minutes after it was placed on the table. Fries were fairly cold and poor quality...
We went for a good night out, plus I just didn't want to cook for our anniversary.
As far as desert is concerned... hard to mess that up right... wrong... Cremé brulee was 5 different textures. With a mild fishy flavor... didn't taste squat for hazelnut in the orange hazelnut cake...
I've noticed people complaining about the same issues a few years ago. Change up your menu!!! And stop being so pompous that you ignore the complaints. You're not that special...
We left extremely disappointed. Probably will never go back again. And I live close by.
For those wondering if you should go do yourself a favor and save some money go to a long horns. It's cheaper and taste better.
And to the restaurant if you're going to pass yourself off as a fancy restaurant... be a fancy...
Read moreMarch 2025: we have been coming to Burdicks for 16 years, always loved this restaurant. Today's dinner did not quite live up to our expectations. The French onion soup was still excellent, however other choices were were a bit disappointing. The duck cassolet was very bland, especially the beans. The duck was not crispy. The trout was dry. The salads were generous, but the blend of flavors could have been better. The service was excellent.
April 2023: we are back for another excellent meal: lobster bisque and broiled octopus. Octopus looked spectacular, but the flavor was somewhat bland. The bisque was very good. There are outdoor tables. Very pleasant and great food. The service is excellent. June 2022: another outstanding dinner on burdick's out door patio. Smoked muscle's soup was incredible. Scallops were very good with interesting and complex sides. NH oysters were very good as well.
September 2021:outside dining setup is lovely, a very pleasant experience. The muscles were good. Steak frite was good, although slightly overcooked for medium rare, it came as medium. The duck rugout flavor was goid, but the amount of duck was disappointing. There were only four micro pieces (the size of my thumb knuckle) of duck. This was probably the least memorable meal of the large number of dinners we had here.
May 2021: they added a lovely tent with six tables in addition to the tables under the overhang. Good option for safe outdoor dining. This is the best food I had in over a year. Just as good as before the pandemic. 2019: Consistently good food, attentive service. Update 2018: again, wonderful experience. The chef has been here for 13 years, and we 've been coming here...
