Disappointed by Poor Customer Service My husband and I have been loyal customers of Clovebrook Bakery, often making a 30-minute drive specifically for their incredible scones. Unfortunately, todayâs visit was disappointing due to the treatment we received from a staff member named Mia.
From the start, Mia seemed visibly irritated by our presence. We simply asked for a box instead of a bag so our scones wouldnât get crushed on the drive home. This request appeared to bother her, and we were made to feel like an inconvenience. We then had to request a larger box ourselves, as she made no effort to ask how many items we were purchasing â something thatâs always been standard from other staff members in the past.
Without a word, she handed the box to the cashier and walked away. There was no acknowledgment or attempt at basic courtesy. My husband and I were both taken aback by how dismissive and cold the interaction was â especially considering we just drove an hour round-trip for a few scones.
I later went back in to ask for the employeeâs name, as I felt the treatment we received was unacceptable. Surprisingly, no one at the counter would identify her â even after I clearly described her and her behavior. It wasnât until I pointed her out (as she peeked from the back while on her phone) that someone reluctantly told me her name was Mia.
Additionally, I was concerned to see Mia handling baked goods without gloves. Her mood was clearly affecting her work â her fingers kept slipping, and it was unclear whether or not she touched the food directly. None of the staff handling items from the display seemed to be wearing gloves today, which is concerning from a food safety perspective.
We love this bakery and the products they make, but customer service matters â and todayâs experience left a bad taste in our mouths. If Mia is struggling with her role, perhaps she would be better suited to working in the back, where she doesnât have to engage directly with customers. Courtesy, cleanliness, and professionalism are the minimums one should expect when supporting a local business.
We hope Clovebrook takes this feedback seriously and continues to uphold the great standards weâve come to expect â both in their food and...
Read moreAll I can say is, Clove Brook made our wedding day all the more perfect! I met with Kim last September when looking for vendors. Pretty much anyone I talked to in Sussex recommended them. I immediately knew why, as I trusted Kim right away.
Leading up to our wedding day, Kim and Rich actively supported us in our decision making. They visited our venue site, and we came up with a plan to make sure the day would go smoothly.
And the day went incredibly smoothly! The cocktail hour had both hand outs and a table for people to take food from. Clove Brooksâs staff were incredibly attentive to our guests. Kim said their staff loves working weddings, and it was cool to see how much they all enjoyed it!
The dinner was phenomenal! We had a buffet of eggplant rollatini, brisket, penne vodka pasta, roasted potatoes, and salad. Everyone raved about the food (especially the brisket). The line went fast and smooth, and everyone had their fill.
For dessert, Clove Brook had a pie bar set up for us⌠wow! They had so many choices of pies to choose from. Again, yet another thing people raved about! We also had Clove Brook take care of our cake which was perfect.
We trusted Kim and Rich with our day, and we wouldnât have it any other way. Whether is a Taylor ham egg and cheese, or a big wedding, love is put into the food and service. Go with...
Read moreI live in Virginia and was looking for a bakery that's close by to my friend's house in New Jersey. I found this bakery through google with good reviews. I wanted to surprise her by getting her a cake for her party. I took my chances and called in to order a cake. The lady I talked was very nice. I picked the flavor of the cake and told them to write "Congratulations" on it. I wasn't really particular on what it should look like cause I saw some of their work and it looks good so I was not worried at all. I ordered on Tuesday and to be delivered on Saturday at 11am. Everything went well and the lady even gave me a call to clarify the address the day they delivered it. I was very excited when my friend called me that she got the cake and sent me a picture. But, as soon as I saw the cake I was very embarrassed and disappointed. The "congratulations" was not only misspelled but It was not on the center of the cake so you can't really read the congratulations on it. I can tell the icing on the cake was not even out properly and it looks like they made it in a hurry. I'm giving 3 stars because my friend likes the taste of the cake but I'm just super embarrassed on how it looked like. I just expected more from...
