The Green Olive — Restaurant in Wantage

We like the burgers and go maybe 3 times a year. Today getting directions decided to check reviews, was surprised at how many 1 stars. We went, sat down already had a good idea of what we wanted. Asked to have bruschetta appetizer put in while we look over the menu. No I’m 50, been to many restaurant over the years, from high end to dive bar joints. I’ve never been told, I can’t put an appetizer without the whole order, they don’t like when we do that… huh?? Said we need a minute while processing what just happened. Waitress came back, took our order and said you still want the bruschetta?? No, no we don’t want the bruschetta anymore. Now they lost a bruschetta sale, and we even said after that weird situation that it’s probably our last time going there. What restaurant in the service industry tells a customer the chef doesn’t want us to put in an order (appetizer) unless it is a complete table order??? Now I know why they have 1...

Came here for the first time the other night. Typically we go to the Lamppost but wanted to try something new. The ambience was nice and our server, Spirit, who greeted us when we walked in was friendly. Love the fireplace in the dining room! We were given bread and butter to start. Bread was warm the butter was an olive butter which was interesting. I would suggest that when bread is dropped that its explained that it's olive butter and perhaps offer regular butter as well. I personally enjoyed the olive butter but know some that wouldn't. I ordered the special Jersey Day Boat Scallops with Risotto and pomegranate drizzle. Scallops were cooked perfectly, risotto was good just was not as creamy as I've had but great flavor with the pomegranate. My wife and I visited The Green Olive today around lunchtime and we were impressed with our experience. The restaurant is under new management and they've made improvements, including a new menu, also new stove today! We were happy to see that the food is still as great as before. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and welcoming. Joe, our server, was particularly friendly and attentive, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. We ordered the gyro platter and the Philly cheesesteak, both cooked to perfection and tasted absolutely delicious. The portions were generous and the prices were very reasonable.
