My husband is gluten free and unfortunately the only thing he could really have on the menu was breakfast. We arrived at 11:30 so we were told that after 11:30 there was a $1 surcharge. This never makes any sense to me. Either serve breakfast or not don't charge extra depending on what time of day it is. Anyway my husband and I decided to order breakfast. Now on the breakfast menu it states that it comes with coffee so we both ordered coffee. Breakfast was pretty good nothing special but after all it was eggs and home fries. When we received our bill I noticed we were charged $1 extra for ordering breakfast after 11:30 and also charged $1.45 for coffee. I asked our waitress about it and she stated that she was new and we would need to speak to Jen. Of course I have no idea who Jen is. The waitress eventually comes back and states that after 11:30 it does not come with coffee either. I mentioned to her that it did not state that on the menu and she had not told us that. From out of no where comes another young lady who proceeds to rudely interrupt our conversation and inform me that it is printed on the menu. I asked her to see the menu and she pulled on the regular menu (not the breakfast menu) to show me in a tiny little box that after 11:30 breakfast was a $1 upcharge and did not include coffee. She then walked away and we finished and we were going to pay the bill and leave. After a few minutes she came back with a revised check and proceeded to explain how I was wrong and that lots of restaurants do this in a very harsh tone and as an equally harsh face. I smiled and explained to her that she was very rude in which in the manner she had spoken to me and treated us. And for that fact she had lost 2 regular customers. I work for a restaurant and we always treat our customers with respect, because without customers you would not have a business. My person opinion on the whole thing is restaurants should either serve breakfast all day or not. Charging a $1 extra for ordering after 11:30 on a Sunday is not a good business practice. Instead maybe they should have breakfast specials before 11:30 and after just a regular breakfast menu. I hope everyone else has a better...
Read moreRays changed hands and became Ray's of Sunshine. The first handful of times I went, everything seemed okay. the new owner was super nice. I'm not a fan of all the hello kitty toys decorating the place, but what do I know, I came to eat.
This time, the service was awful. No smile, nice small talk, and no follow up on what I was served. In fact, the order wasn't even correct. Wrong cheese and topings I didn't want... plus, the fries were atrocious. You know the bottom of the frozen fry bag, how it has all the little pieces and how some fall out of the frier basket and get left in the oil a little too long... yeah, that's what I was served. Hard little pieces of fries. I guess that's one way to lose weight, but that was my first meal after a 12.5hr shift, and I was kinda expecting to enjoy it. While the owner did ask how everything was, all she had to do was see how I picked apart the sandwich and left the gathering of fries to know the food didn't satisfy. The iced tea was even undesirable. Bitter and sour tasting. So now what? Do I try again?? I'm not sure I like throwing away money on bad service and food. I am very disappointed in this visit.
Don't go there for Diner food.... get the AUTHENTIC MEXICAN DISHES and ICE CREAM. Ray is amazing, super nice, hard-working American Dream business owner. The staff is fun and quirky... quirky in a good way. I ❤️ locally owned...if you do too, you gotta go to this place. I try a different Mexican style dish I am there, but I have eaten plenty of burger and fries there too. All really good. Apparently, locals really like the breakfast buffet on the weekends... I myself need to listen to these details because I haven't gone yet.. but I have been told by more than one person to go for that...so maybe I will see you there?? It's the local's place all year long. Just a down to earth like you see in movies, off the beaten path,...
Read moreFirst off I called and tried to order for myself and a 90 year old woman. I only wanted 1 broasted chicken breast and she wanted 3 or 4 pieces of dark meat( to save for a few meals). So I was going to get a total of 3 two pieces one with a breast and a dark meat and the other 2 with 2 dark meats. The lady informed me that you could only do white or dark and could not mix the two. I told her I would be happy to pay an upcharge but she was not having it. So she said it would be 30 minutes. I got there a few minutes early and was waiting around. The staff was very nice but after 5 minutes the waitress said she had accidentally missed putting in the order for one of the 2 pieces and it was going to be 15 more minutes and $7.95 more than she originally said. I believe that she should have at the least offered half off for her mistake, or even put in a free piece of cake or something. When we get back home the box with the mashed potatoes busted or got squished with the other food and it was all over the place. Also the Cole slaw was warm and there was lettuce in the broasted chicken. The chicken was good, but the pieces were small. The mashed potatoes were also good. I just wasn't happy with the mistake and the fact that they didn't try to...
