Well if definitely was not good. And we have always given Donna's a 5 star. We ordered the chicken dinner special. An iced tea and water. We told the waitress we'd be sitting out at the picnic tables. My husband even double tipped her to bring it out. After about 35 to 40 minutes we were kinda scratching our heads. I finally went in and asked for our drinks at least. Lo and behold at the end of the counter sat our order. Warm iced tea, no ice anymore. She did give me fresh water. No straws, forks or napkins. And the whole dinner was lukewarm at the best. Butter had already melted in containers it sat so long. Chicken was so cold and tough at this point we had to pull the breading off to eat. Meat was still tough. When I mentioned that my husband paid extra for them to bring out, all I got was "oh I didn't realize that was you"???? I am not sure what she even meant. And to add to the disappointment, he got the smallest piece of chocolate pie he's ever got at Donna's. It looked to be about a 10th slice of a pie. Not anything the size they are showing on line right this very minute. Very very disappointed. Had really been looking forward to since we'd been planning it. We are a good 35 to 45 miles away depending on traffic. Oh well. What can I say except "not a happy Sunday meal...
Read moreToday my family and I went to Donna’s Drive In for dinner. We drove from Nevada MO and it was definitely worth the drive. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by a waitress with a warm welcome and a big smile. The customer service was outstanding, the prices are reasonable and not one complaint about the food. I ordered the all you can eat crab legs and shrimp and couldn’t stop eating them they were so good. Everything came out fresh, hot and delicious. 5 stars are not enough to rate this restaurant. The service was excellent. The place was clean and a great family atmosphere. Our waitress Ally kept our drinks filled and the food coming. Every so often the waitress or owner would come by and say are you ready for more crab legs or shrimp. The shrimp were huge and the crab legs were cooked perfectly. I was so full I was ready to crawl out of there. Afterwards the owner of the restaurant came over to talk to us. She made us feel right at home. We drove an hour and a half to eat dinner there and we would do it again. Anyone who is looking for something different and something delicious to eat, you gotta try Donna’s Drive In. It may seem like a drive to get there, but it’s worth it. I left with a smile and will...
Read moreThis was our first visit to this restaurant. It's located about 25 minutes from where we live, but worth the drive. It sits out along a two-lane highway by itself. The building both inside and out is little on the plain side, but neat as a pen. If you're looking for a down-to-earth, family-friendly place to have lunch or dinner, then this place is well worth a visit. In addition to daily specials, they offer a basic menu of burgers, hot dogs, tenderloins, sides, and deserts. More than enough choices for everyone in your family, with reasonable prices. My double cheeseburger was delicious! Our server was great, too. I mean that. She seemed to be genuinely enjoying serving her customers, which was refreshing to see and experience. We'll...
