First off I’m an actual customer, not someone who read an article with no context and clearly have no idea who Gel is and what she does. So first the food; best cornbread I’ve ever had. And I don’t say that lightly, the pork pie and all the baked goods are just insane. You need to pre order to guarantee because it’s not a secret how good they are and they sell out fast. Call in advance and they’ve always accommodated me!
Second, there’s been a few keyboard warriors who have never been to this restaurant leave a review because they read an article that showed 3 sentences of a full page letter she posted. First off, this is to review their food not whether you agree with them. Second, if you’re going to take the time to try and ruin someone’s business (which you won’t btw) then take to time to research what was actually said. I know in this 140 character or less clickbait fake news world it’s easy to lose facts but if you want to harm someone’s business the least you could do is find some facts.
So here are some facts about Gel and Her Husband. This Shakespearean cancel Mob wasn’t upset with her when she paid the tabs of school children being shamed and fed cheese sandwiches because their families were behind on their school lunch bill. I didn’t hear anyone complain about them when they raise 5k+ For a man who lost the use of his legs after a procedure went wrong. Or the free food pantry they set up for homeless . Or the fact they lose money om every meal they make for a first responder. You’re not greedy if you want to expand your dream you’re an asset to the community that employs more and helps more and oh btw contributes precious tax revenue to the people who sit on the government dole with or without cause So I implore people get the facts then go send a thank you to the Gels team for being nothing but a positive force in...
Read moreOkay so first let me preface this with I don’t usually write reviews this might be my first or second. We’re still in the parking lot after our meal here and let me just say this place was absolutely 100% what I mean when I say I want to go out for a lazy weekend brunch.
First off really cool, retro diner feel, love that. Open kitchen concept so you can see what’s going on and the food being cooked also really great and authentic.
Second staff was really kind, great customer service but still really genuine and authentic not fake “customer service” which I think is so rare now a days so I appreciate it when I see it. It gives a really great family vibe.
Third (and when I tell you most certainly not last, I mean it) the food was absolutely bangin’ I got the poached eggs with cornbread and was skeptical of the combo but let me tell you it was chefs kiss, add a side of bacon…to die for. Hash browns had great flavor and texture. My partner got the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs, and they do noooooot slack on the biscuits or the gravy not to mention gravy was so good! Really good mimosas with such a wide variety of flavors.
We did have a little bit of a wait but it was Labor Day weekend I wasn’t even the slightest bit concerned because let me tell you all the reasons listed above made it worth the wait 100x over.
We will absolutely be...
Read moreMy wife and I were excited to try this place. Always seems busy and we like what they do for the community. Went in and a waitress at the bar said "sit anywhere" we sat at the booth right next to the door. We were sitting there for a little bit when another waitress rudely said " you can't sit at a unsanitized table there are tables in the back". So we walked to the back to be shown a table that is so close to other tables that It made us feel uncomfortable and if anything else that's not sanitary. What if they had a cold? The first waitress could have said give me a moment to wipe the table down, which would have been reasonable. It was very busy. My wife and I decided to leave. Very disappointed. I'm sure 99 percent of the time this doesn't happen, but we will not be back. It's a shame.
Thank you for your response.. I don't want to go back and forth not my intention. We never saw that sign, and yes I could have asked the waitress to clean it, but she also could have said politely " can you just give me a moment to wipe that table down please" we would have gladly stood up and waited. We were just taken a back by her rudeness. Once again ty for your response. Most owners don't take the time....
