Gabby's is a 5!! So we arrive in this one horse town if you will excuse the expression.
On first glance on my Android, it appeared we were in a fast food wasteland, no coffee shops, dinner house, nada. We craved Mexican and it was our good fortune to find Gabby's!. The food was fresh, flavorful and we'll prepared. I had the 3 Flautas, one of each meat! I always have my sensor up for day old pork, or beef. I need not have worried. They were fresh, well seasoned and stuffed into the pockets of a flour tortilla, before being deep fried. Killer, not a bit greasy. Beverly had tacos, same story, meat was abundant and fresh. Mine was served on a plate of lettuce, fresh chopped tomatoes and slashed in sour cream. We ordered huge side of guacamole - killer, no fillers like some places. It was Chucky and loaded with avocado chunks, reasonably priced. Natch chips and salsa were excellent too. And Margie's to start. I need to say, yelp lists them as closing at 6! On Friday night? WTH? We called and they stayed open for us. They often are open until customers are no more sometimes that is ,6. Lunch is huge here we were told so, it was just us two and the help! If you're looking for authentic taste, this ain't it. I felt everything was off a little. Asada was like shredded meat (soft and stringy). The beans in the burrito tasted like canned beans, maybe too salty. Enchilada sauce was too tomatoe-y. No spice and probably from a can. Maybe catered to the travelers and its ok. 👍
The guy are the register has an unwelcoming blank expression. Doesn't greet, almost seems bothered you are ordering.
I'm from the San Fernando Valley where we have amazing Mexican restaurants that are cheaper. I won't stop here next time I drive by.
