I am by far absolutely disgusted at this place. Back in 2014, I see I gave this place 5 stars. Well, it's cuz they were the best place to go in town. We go there with family and friends regularly which makes this whole situation disappointing. So this year my husband was looking for work and got a job at this diner but due to finding a better paying career, he decided to quit. We still went there as customers but only as pickup because some nasty things were said when he told them he was leaving. Well this morning my cousin was in from out of town and we decided to go to our favorite spot. It's been so long, we missed it. We were sat at a table, mind you it was busy so we didn't mind waiting. An elderly woman came to take our drink order and all seemed fine. Until the waitress pulled the menus from my cousins hands. We didn't say anything and eventually got our food. I don't know how to really explain how she was but she was rude, called out the food and Idk, just rude. She even almost knocked over our cups but apologized. I didn't pay it much mind until that same empty cup was still sitting at end of the table for the entire duration of our meal. We sat in the back so she had to walk by at least 10 times and even looked directly at the empty cup but went on to ignore it. Never once had she come and asked if we needed anything or how everything was. At this point, after seeing the kitchen staff through the revolving door and how rude our waitress was, I realized they knew who my husband was. And that was why were being treated so poorly. Mind you, this woman had been our waitress many times in the past and has been great. So we sat there awaiting our bill/check for about 15 minutes with a whiney 2 year old. I had to ask the hostess for the bill and a box. The waitress sees me putting food in a box and asks if I need a box?! Um, no. Just the bill. I get up front and proceed to tell the gentleman at the register what had happened and his response is what honestly has me so livid. He said "well I didn't see it so I can't do anything about it" well gee. Really?! The young waitress heard him and said to me "im so sorry hun", she's the best and so sweet! So as I'm telling the man what happened, all he did was laugh. He gave me my change and said nothing. I waited for a simple "thank you" or something but got nothing. So I have come to the conclusion that I was right, it was spiteful because my husband was with me. I go to the diner for photography client meet up and meetings and brunch with friends or my son and I have NEVER been treated so poorly. I see now it is because my husband wasn't with me. So I hope the owner sees this and takes into account what happened and tries to fix it because they lost faithful customers as of this morning. Granted, having to find a fill-in must be difficult but that is no reason to treat customers that way. Thanks and have a nice day!

We hadn’t eaten here in a while and were shocked to be charged $4.50 for breakfast meat when my husband ordered a bacon cheeseburger. That $4.50 was over and above the $8.95 for a cheeseburger. The cheeseburger price itself was reasonable. Our server was Paige and she was lovely. However, she should have mentioned the steep add on for breakfast meat. I’m pretty sure that price for breakfast meat would have given the customer more than the 2 strips of bacon that were on the cheeseburger. It makes me sad to think both the owner and the waitress knew they were taking us. There was a bacon cheeseburger on the menu for just $1 more than the cheeseburger. Why didn’t she offer that? When I questioned that my husband’s bacon cheeseburger cost $13.45 he said the one on the menu was bigger. I kept saying that made no sense. It must be smaller. I thought I could get over this experience but 2+ months later, it still bothers me. My tuna melt was huge and very good. I also love their French fries.

A response to the owner: Thank you for your response. Although I can believe this is the reason Paige no longer works there, I did mention it to the person at the register when I paid and it was not taken care of and he didn’t even seem to care or I would not have written this review. I was given a flimsy reason for the cost. The gentleman at the register at closing time appeared to be the owner. I still have...

What a wonderful meal and experience.

We have not been there for over a decade for some reason. It's a 20mn drive but always well worth it.

The atmosphere is very warm and comforting. The staff were all smiling and attentive.

Three of us had dinner there. One kids meal and two adult meals. $44. Kids meal came with a dessert and the adult meals with soup and salad bar.

The salad bar had full hard boiled eggs!! Very impressive.

The homemade ranch dressing was absolutely delicious. The kids cheeseburger was very big and the bun MIGHT have been homemade. It was shiney and crispy on top and soft bread.

The fries looked fresh cut. It didn't have that coating on it.

I had 3 eggs over easy (perfectly done) with a sirloin steak. That is my only negative. The steak was not medium as ordered. It was very well done.

It came with hash browns (crispy on the outside and soft and steamy inside). And toast.

Most importantly, my kids...

We went to this place on the way to Antique and glad we did. Small, clean local place. It's not fancy but good. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs with rye toast and hash browns. My wife ordered the Ham and egg croissant with the ham on the side and hashbrowns. Bolth where filling and delicious, I especially enjoyed their sausage gravy. I felt it was made in-house, The hashbrowns also had a really good potato taste and good texture.. Overall, this place killed it, quality diner. I would definitely go back.

We were seated right away but they were very busy (around dinner time on a Friday) and, like most restaurants these days, short staffed. Menu is nice though some items weren't available (no muffins, chili only in the winter). But when the food arrived... It was absolutely fantastic. Large plates and very tasty! Service was friendly (if a little gruff) but super slow. Just can't penalize for that now.

Breakfast is great here. Portions are more than adequate and the homefries are cooked to buttery perfection. The Big Breakfast Country View Special is a ridiculous amount of food for a super reasonable price. It can get a little loud when it's busy but the food makes it worthwhile. The waitresses are always friendly and attentive too.
