I ate here on July 20, 2024. I came up from Snohomish to have some sauteed oysters. In the past I would usually get these and if I was there on the weekends in the summer I would get the BBQ's Oysters on the half shell or pan fried oysters. In the past the oysters were lush and excellently well prepared and tasted fantastic. Well with the new management the sauteed oysters were quite different .... more of a Louisiana style with small sauteed oysters sitting in oyster/butter or oil sauce along with garlic bread part soaking in the sauce. At first look not so appetizing. I had never seen this kind of prep before. I thought this is what I am here for and ate all of them and bread too. Not half bad at all. I think tho the pub menu should say these are Louisiana Style - that would have been a bit intriguing. I can understand some folks might be put off by the look of the dish but I found this style of dish was better than I thought it would have been.
I also had a Swiss Bacon Chicken Basket and chose to have Sweet Potato Fries with it. Huge sandwich, giant chicken cut - biggest I've ever seen. Fries were tasty, lightly sweet, small like McD's fries, and I couldn't stop eating them. Ok, they were bigger than a few years back, but hey, it's a different management now and I'm open to try new things. I don't mind the difference. The sandwich was so big that half way through it I decided to eat it by pieces. The chicken was lightly favorable, not dry, lightly juicy and I ate all of it and all the rest of the concoction. I had a Space Dust beer ... a favorite, tho this time not as cold which made it last longer throughout the meal experience.
I'm used to the longer wait for service and food coming out from the last management because the food then was worth the wait and the staff and customers were not invasive. I rather liked that... I can eat relaxed. This time around service and time for food to get to me was a huge improvement... much faster for sure. A big plus for a change.
New management .... I was deadpan a bit there... seeing how the experience would feel. It was good. Place wasn't crowded at all when I went... will have to visit when there more folks there. Do I miss the last management and staff .... sure. I am open to the present management to see what emerges. I debate coming back and I'm leaving that opportunity open... so yes I plan to return. The pub remains on my to-go list. I'm diabetic type 2 and my test when I got home was under 120. Also I didn't feel overly filled after I had left. And I didn't get sick later or nor did I have any feeling I needed to make it to a restroom. All great signs of great food quality, cooking skills and safe-handling. I can deal with the extra cost of the dishes. Look around, other than fast food, eating out these days is expensive anyway. If you are the type of customer expecting stellar super fast service ... well this might not be for you, but if you are seeking a comfortable, relaxing experience and not getting hassled by the wait staff... this is a good place for the kind of socializing in a pub you love to do with filling eats and favorite drinks and yes flat screens sports videos. The menu has quite the variety... still enticing.
So thanks to the staff for my experience. Hang in there....
Read moreMy girlfriend and I patronized the Conway Pub recently, prior to seeing a show at the Conway Muse. At first, everything appeared fine. The few customers that were there seemed to be enjoying their food. The menu looked good, with items you would expect at a pub.
The waitress on duty sat us at a table and took our drink order. The drinks were brought to us pretty much right away. Shortly after that, we started to notice that things were not as they seemed before. It was quite some time before the waitress returned to take our food order. In fact, we had to flag her down. We ordered an appetizer and a couple of burgers. The appetizer came within a reasonable amount of time (your average cheese sticks). Then, we waited, and waited, and waited. We had finished our drinks long ago and were wanting to order more, but she didn’t seem interested in asking if we wanted more. After about twenty minutes, we flagged her down again and ordered more drinks. Ten minutes later, she brought them. I could understand such a delay if it had been busy, but this evening, it was not. Though she appeared to be the only waitress on duty, there were other people working (bar tender and support staff).
Our food finally arrived forty or so minutes after we ordered it. I’m not sure why it took so long, there were only a few of us there. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was as bad as the service. I’m not sure I have ever had a more flavorless hamburger. Several of the ingredients had been left off of my burger (I.e. grilled mushrooms and onions), which I inquired about to the waitress. She handled my inquiry with a mild “I don’t care” attitude. That was the last time the waitress came by our table.
We finished our meals, then waited 10 to 15 for someone to bring our check. No one did, so my girlfriend went up to the bar and asked for it. Then we had to ask again for someone to handle the payment.
For some unknown reason, no one seemed interested in helping us. I do not know what we did, maybe we offended the waitress somehow. My girlfriend and I are always very respectful of those who work in the restaurant industry. Both of us had done the same when we were younger. Even this evening, we did not make a big deal about anything, despite the mistake with my order and delays in service. However, we will not be returning to the Conway Pub...
Read moreZero stars, zero tip. Zero service also. Wow, tonight we went for dinner. So ordered, and a different waitress comes by 15 minutes later and says : Oh the other waitress left so I just wanted to leave your bill so I know where it goes. OK so waiting for food now. 2 orders, one correct order, the next plate was missing the cheese on the French dip. The waitress offers us a piece of cheese. Still waiting on my food and then it has pickles and mayonnaise on my bbq chicken sandwich. Along with that i didn't get sweet potato fries, i got regular. Again waiting for the waitress whos busy chatting with customers. The receipt even says specifically my order. Hello, she makes excuses, and my family is already done eating. I said can I atleast have my sweet potato fries . Nope guess not. Waited for them and they never came. Of corse. The cook finally came out , was the only person to take any responsibility. He made our bill right but I still never got my fries. Problem #1 the 1st waitress should have let us know she was off shift and introduced us to the new waitress. I'm still hungry. No one even offered to make a fresh sandwich. Very mad. Disappointed, shame on you, Oh another thing, we came in and the same song played the whole time, would skip and start again. Not one person noticed. I want to know have you ever seen the rain, coming down...
