As I've worked in the industry for half my life, I held off time and time again on writing this review. I don't believe in negative reviews, but this time, it's necessary. I would first like to say that the bartender, Carrie (Keri, Kari, sp?), is one of the nicest and most engaging bartenders I've ever had. She's the reason for the second star. Unfortunately, I've not seen her over the last several times we've been in, and then this started: No less than the last 3 times I've been here, I've been overcharged on my tabs. I don't find this to be purely coincidental when it happens continuously. The visit before those 3 instances, I had a $120 bill for 3 people, which was what sparked my curiosity to start actually itemizing. Too bad I never checked that one. The following 3 trips, overcharged EVERY time. Icing on the cake: Last night, the bartender, Ingrid according to my check, was nice enough at first. My friend and I sat at the bar, had 2 beers and a shot each over the course of almost 2 hours, then my gf arrived to join us. We moved to a table so we could all talk (bar was nearly empty), and ordered another round of drinks/shots for all of us, as well as some fries. At this point, her attitude toward us shifted, and noticeably by everyone in our party (all industry peeps, mind you). We felt like we'd done something to upset her, but literally hadn't done anything wrong. We were just sitting there talking. As we were prepping to leave, my gf was struggling to finish her shot, so I finished it for her. At this time, Ingrid was coming out from behind the bar, and my gf heard her mutter something about her "not thinking I needed another one." Mind you, I'm a dec sized guy, and a total of 2.5 shots and 3 beers in 3+ hours is nowhere NEAR the legal limit, much less me showing signs of intoxication. This COULD'VE been a misunderstanding, but my gf was quite confident in what she heard, and there wasn't much else for noise at the time as the place was empty. She then handed me an INCORRECT tab, yet again. I went to the bar to explain, and she argued the charge with me, claiming that "she entered them as we bought them." I explained to her it was impossible for a round of 2 shots plus a round of 3 shots to equal 6 total. I was not rude, but I was admittedly bothered/surprised by her original response. She then pulled the check out from under my hand, walked over, fixed it, and smacked it back down on the bar where I'd spoken to her. Mind you, our table, which I had returned to, was not the bar. She left it there, expecting me to come to her. I still tipped 20% because the core of who I am won't allow me to treat servers poorly, even when that isn't reciprocated. I want to support local business, but I can't support this any longer. I'll take my business to JR's or somewhere else in Belfair. The extra drive is worth the quality of...
Read moreThis place could absolutely be a fantastic spot, but it is missing the mark on a lot of things. When we walked towards the restaurant, 3 employees were out in front smoking. No big deal. Just a little unprofessional. When we went inside, it took a couple of minutes for someone to greet us, and when she did, she was on her cell phone and muttered something as she walked us back to the tables. As we walked past the server beverage station, we noticed it was quite filthy and had dirty plates with food still on them just sitting on the counters. Walking past the kitchen, you could see the grease and carbon buildup on all the equipment. Most of this could be overlooked as it doesn't necessarily pose any food safety risks, but it's just a bit unsightly. The main issue is that it took a long while for a server to come over, and even though she was polite, she didn't know what beers were available, what sides came with the dinner entrees, etc. Again, nothing that is the end of the world by any means. Just more of a mild annoyance. When the food did come out, it was very lukewarm and without flavor. The server never came over again to check on us and we didn't end up eating much of our food. Eventually, we just went up to the host stand to pay and then left. In the end of the day, some food experiences are better than others, and it's not a huge deal. It just seems like this place is missing a huge opportunity to serve some awesome food in an awesome spot. It overlooks the water and the views are breathtaking. However, the food and overall cleanliness/ vibe of this place were super disappointing. I was really bummed because we love supporting small, local businesses, especially when we travel. All said, I know we won't go back, but I can totally see why the local community considers this one of their spots. They do a lot of stuff with the Kiwanis, police force and other neighborhood groups, and I know that...
Read moreI was visiting from out of town and came here to enjoy a nice dinner with close friends. I was extremely disappointed in the service we received and let down with the food quality we received. The vegetables we had which were green beans were not even cooked and still raw and our soup was given to us at the same time our dinner was. We were never checked on after we received our food nor were we offered an additional drink which we were all ready for another one. I waited over 30 minutes to get pull tabs which I ended up having to walk up to the bar to get. After our meal we waited nearly an hour before deciding to leave without receiving any service or prompt to pay our tab. I am disappointed in the service quality we received and think that this establishment should have at-least more than 1 employee working on a Friday night. It was extremely frustrating for my group to sit at our table and wait to pay our tab and be ignored by the staff working especially when the entire kitchen staff leaves the kitchen and sits at the bar with the remaining staff from the restaurant and begins to drink. I will not be back to visit the restaurant based solely on the poor service I received tonight. Word of advice from someone who has been in the service industry for over 20 years…. Teach your bartenders proper time management. 3 words… DRINKS,...
