Well we gave them another shot. This time for the happy hour experience we've enjoyed before. Unfortunately, there was no outside seating on the sunny day we chose, so we got a table at the window. Our server was exceptional. Very friendly, attentive, communicated status of drinks and food, filled water, made amusing conversation, and was a pleasure. Unfortunately, that's about where the positive aspects ended. We ordered three Arnold Palmers (one with a shot of tequila - Arnoldo?!). Instead of telling us they don't have lemonade, the bartender made homemade lemonade. Although we apprecated the effort, the result was nothing like a regular AP and not good. We ordered macaroni and cheese, a burger and an Italian wrap. The macaroni and cheese was actually rigatoni and unremarkable. I requested medium rare for my burger and it came ashen gray with three tiny tomato slices clumped in the middle of the bun and slice of lettuce. No pickles when requested. The truffle fries appeared to be scopped from the bottom of the warming tray because only a few were full sized fries. The rest were 1" or shorter fragments with a bunch of the seasoning from the bottom of the bin. They were also just warm. Not hot. The Italian wrap would have be just okay if the mozarella cheese used hadn't been saturated and leaked everywhere. The clam chowder was decent to good. Once again, for the prices they charge, The Fireside is just not getting it done. Time to find a new, professionally trained chef and make a commitment to high quality food. Preview Review from Aug 2023: As long time owners in the adjoining condo community, we desperately wish The Fireside would be consistently great. No such luck. We have memories of tragically bad experiences 15 years ago, then an amazing and welcomed recovery we hoped would be the new normal. Just this weekend we took another family and our high hopes, and were once again sadly disappointed. The service was friendly but inattentive. I'm not sure if they're chronically understaffed or morale is low, or both. Our server was civil but not overtly friendly. The restaurant was busy but not full and things took an inordinately long time to come out. Everything from drinks to food. Our dining experience for four adults and four younger teens was 2.5 hours. At one point toward the end of our meal drinks took 15 minutes to come out. "Sorry, the bartender got backed up". Piles of empty plates and glasses sat on our table, some never cleared by the time we left. We found ourselves stacking and preparing the dishes for the bus person in an effort to expedite the process. The food was just okay. Some dishes were better than others and none were bad, like in the past. The Fireside is back to being a mediocre experience for dinner and certainly overpriced. The deserts were pretty good and we've had good luck with happy hour outside on the deck. Maybe we'll try happy hour again with hopes it hasn't suffered the same disappointing decline.

I ducked into the marina to escape the storm. A friend suggested this restaurant. After much confusion with the person on the other end of the phone, I ordered the porterhouse with fries. After a brief time I realized I didn’t tell the person how unwanted it cooked. I called back. Same person answered. I asked for medium rate on the 33 dollar porterhouse. That’s when she told me it was pork, not beef. Imagine my delight. She said she could run back and tell the cook to put that aside and start a steak. I told her don’t worry about it. It will be fine. I’m tired and hungry and just want to eat and go to sleep. (Rough day). I returned to the boat after spending nearly 60 dollars on a porterhouse and two sides of fries. The picture of one side of fries is attached. This is what was in the box. It looked like what someone would have left behind after a meal, not. A full side order. The other box will be used for hash browns in the morning. A SMALL BREAKFAST TO BE SURE. The porterhouse (pork) was accompanied by 6 green beans. I believe it started as 3 but they were cut in half to create more. There was a side of baby potatoes as well as the cut of meat itself. The potatoes were good but very sweet. The porterhouse (pork) had a sweet brown gravy over the top with what I believe were onions. It tasted exactly like the potatoes., sweet. The meat itself gave no indication that it was worthy of a 33 dollar price tag. After scraping the brown gelatinous gravy off the top, it tasted fine. Basically a fried pork chop you could make yourself for about 3 dollars. I’m sure the view is fantastic from a window seat but it was dark so I have nothing. To offer there. The portions will leave you hungry and the price will leave you embarrassed like you were take. Advantage of but don’t want to admit it. I am certain that is how the good reviews are made. Either people want you to experience their mistake or they spent far too much time at the bar before eating. And couldn’t tell the difference. If you’re in the mood for a porterhouse (pork) I suggest you seek your meal elsewhere. The only reason I would return to this restaurant would be to ask for a refund for the side of fries. I will not, however. I will just write that off as a cheap lesson learned. The two stars that The Fireside Restaurant earned were for the location and the view. I rarely, if ever leave a bad review. I had to this time.

better service @ Taco Bell. Truly, one of the most strange restaurant experiences, that cost us $100. It started when we called and asked if we could come by for a drink and some food in 10mins ish. They said they could seat us but we had to be gone by 6:30 bc they had a seating at 6:45. No problem we thought, it was 4:45 and we are easy going. When we got there, no one knew what we were talking about. The host was not only extremely attitude-y and rude, but walked us to our table. She dropped menus and just walked away. We were in a mostly empty restaurant seated by the window and there were 4+ open tables outside with dirty dishes all over them. I went and asked if we could sit outside instead because there were so many vacant options. The host looked at me and said “we don’t have any tables outside.” I replied “I’m confused. I’m looking at 4 empty tables right there” and she said “no those have reservations.” I went back to my table, the server didn’t appear until 15 mins after being seated. We ordered two drinks, a Caesar to split as an app, a burger and a steak. The server did not return for 20 more minutes when she dropped off the Caesar and left. Still no drinks. We literally did not see her again for another 30 minutes, and contemplated leaving. Tables outside are still empty. We had no main courses, still no drinks, and it was now 6:00. Meanwhile the host is walking around the restaurant with her eyes closed holding knives, blade out. Just weird. The tables outside STILL had not been sat (we absolutely could have sat there). Finally a hour into our meal, our main courses came. My burger was 100% a frozen burger patty from Costco. With squared edges and all. It was warm-ish.. but not fresh. The steak was ok. Still no drinks. The server dumped the stuff off and left. We needed a steak knife to cut the steak, and flagged down someone else to ask for one. She brought a butter knife? The server shows up with our drinks and drops them off 5 mins into our meal. Neither of us wanted them, but I kept my wine. My husband said he really didn’t want a beer anymore and the server looks at him and says “Really?!” Very Rudely then trust and just walks away. Tables outside are still empty if you are wondering. Never once did the server ask how things were or stay long enough for us to inquire about the status of anything. Meanwhile, I’m drinking my hot white wine just ready to get out of here. She comes back and asks if we want the bill, I say yes and hold out my credit card… and she hands the bill to my husband (I’m still holding my card out.)

We won’t be wasting time going back.. We would be back if the service wasn’t so bad…but it seems to be a...
