Golfed here a few times but today is the last time. Called to reserve tee time for 7 golfers and 1 rider, no problem. At the counter 7 golfers 1 rider, 4 carts plus a TON of beverages, no problem, "biggest sale of the day." Course Marshal even handed us the cart keys.
We start golfing and around hole 3 the Marshal told us we couldn't all 7 play together and needed to split up because of "perception," sucks but we did it. Then around hole 5 he told us we we're slow and had to let 2 groups play thru, which fine cuz we are just there having fun and are not good at golf. We continue to play and to speed things up a bit we started playing best ball and played into our 1st group as we were being pushed again. Hole 7 he tells us to split up again, which we were playing separate just playing into our 1st group as to speed up. He continued watch us the rest of the time we were there, as if he didn't have 17 other holes to watch.
On hole 11 we had no one behind us so we merged our groups again. By the end of hole 11 here comes the Marshal saying "what's your plan, you think you can just make your own rules" and started an argument with our group leader, literally saying to her "why do you not want to argue." So we said we're leaving, packed up, went up to turn our carts in and she went in to speak to the owner. She didn't get one word in and he was screaming at her saying "you were warned two times to not play together." We won't be back. "Good."
Between never being told to play separately on the phone or at the desk, being harassed every 3 holes, being watched like deviants the entire time, being pushed, not being able to actually play and enjoy a game of golf, and to top it off being treated horribly at the end we will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBy far my worst experience golfingāever.
As a group of beginner golfers, we fully expected to let faster groups play through or skip ahead. Thatās totally fine and part of learning on a public course.
But Oak Hills Golf Club is absolutely not beginner-friendly, and the biggest issue was the course rangerāan older man in a red hatāwho was completely unprofessional and hostile. Instead of calmly informing us of any pace concerns, he yelled things like: ⢠āHit the ball!ā ⢠āStop looking for the ball!ā
This escalated into a verbal confrontation, where it became clear that unless you play at a near PGA level, youāre not welcome here. He even said, āI saw how you golfed,ā and told me not to return.
I get that experienced golfers donāt like to wait. But that does not justify this kind of behavior from course staff. His attitude ruined my Sunday and ruined the game for me and my group. I will never return to this course.
I spoke with the person at the front desk afterward. While they said all the right thingsāāThatās not the experience we want people to have,ā etc.āit was clear they didnāt genuinely care.
If youāre a beginner or just trying to enjoy the game at your own pace, skip this course. You deserve better than to be harassed on what should be a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOh man, where do I start. We had a tee time set up for a group of 4 for 18 holes. First off, the person at the front desk, was very rude and snarky. Seemed to be irritated that we were even checking in. Moving on, they forced us to play best ball with four people. Two of us are very new to golf, and donāt really care about score but just play to have fun, so that sucked but it wasnāt too bad. Then we had the Marshall following us around every hole we went, and not paying attention to any other hole, which made a few of us uncomfortable. He also talked to us a few times and seemed like he had a bunch of attitude towards us because of us being a bit slower, keep in mind we had to wait for a group in front of us to play as well. Also wanted us to keep playing through when people were still on the green. Fairways seemed pretty unkempt. They also kept booking tee times 15 mins out with groups of 7-8 people. Felt like I paid a bunch of money to play an ok course only to be rushed, disrespected and watched like a hawk by the course employees. Would recommend any other course in the area...
