My wife and I had lunch the other day solely based on the reviews it had received since it's opening in early March. The restaurant appears to be operated by a family with the husband preparing the meals, the wife running the front of the restaurant along with their son. It is a very clean restaurant inside and out. They are open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7am - 8pm. The inside needs a little more of an interior designer's touch. Simple, straight forward menu. They don't offer free refills on soda because they don't have a fountain dispenser, but they are only charging $1.25 per can of soda. Not a bad price, but a suggestion to the owners. Fountain soda, even with free refills, is more profitable than selling individual soda cans. My wife had the Philly Cheese steak and fries. I had the Turkey Club w/fries. The first thing I greatly appreciated was how hot my fries were and how hot my wife's cheesesteak sandwich was. I then noticed how cold my sandwich was. I really appreciate a restaurant that serves hot items hot and cold items cold. Some of the reviews raved about the french fries and they were very good, but seemed to be very similar to other fries available locally. My turkey club sandwich was prepared nicely with crisp bacon, flavorful tomatoes, and generous portions of turkey breast. Of the dozens of restaurants in which I've had their turkey or ham club this is by far one of the better club sandwiches I have had, easily in the top five. My wife's Philly cheesesteak was exceptional. A generous amount of gooey cheese made it stand out from so many other cheesesteak sandwiches. I highly recommend...
Read moreAlex was our server. Not terribly friendly. Was not acknowledged right away when we came in. Restaurant was somewhat threadbare, slight musty scent, dirty floors. Bathrooms were unheated and ice cold. Requested a pitcher of water from Alex and never received it. Food did arrive quickly and was well prepared. Ingredients Seemed like pretty standard Sysco supplied fare, not bad, but not spectacular. Absoultely nothing to write home about. Salad was mostly iceberg. Veggies on salad and burger were pale. Portion sizes just ok. Biggest letdown was the non-existant difference between the $10 "adult" cheeseburger meal I had and the 4.95 "kids" cheeseburger meal my daughter had. Literally the same bun, patty, size portion of the fries; but over twice the price. I tore apart our burgers and I could see no difference whatsoever between the two, they are the same meal. Kinda felt ripped off with that dish. Overall would not go out of my way to come back, I've had much better meals for the same price at other mom and pop diners/cafes...
Read moreCurrently my favorite local breakfast spot. I am very glad the current owners came here because I missed when the building was whistling Joe's from way back.
The food is always good and reasonably priced in my opinion. They sometimes do a country steak skillet and it's great if you enjoy country style gravy.
The service is great and I appreciate the kindness of the folks who work there. They also got me into chalula and other Mexican style hot sauces but they have tobasco too.
I love their skillets especially and I feel like they give you good portions for the price.
