Katie's Kafe — Restaurant in Wausau

I have really been looking forward to trying this place, but I will never be back. We weren't told that we needed to order at the register and then find a seat, so we sat waiting for ten minutes being ignored. The card insert didn't work, so it was tap only. There was no sign indicating this. The CO2 was very low and the woman told me she didn't know what I wanted her to do about it. They were out of lemonade, so I was stuck drinking flat soda. She filled the tea dispenser while complaining that they only had three people working and it was too hot. She then threw a tantrum and was throwing dishes while clearing tables and they ended up falling on the floor and breaking. She used the table rag to mop the floor, and then continued wiping tables with it. We had to clean our own table and chairs. We were told they were out of burgers, but as we were finishing up, the table next to us got burgers. As we were leaving, I spotted the floor/ table cleaning rag at the prep area with fresh tomatoes. I think the icing on the cake was seeing her eating while prepping food. This place should be shut down until they can hire the proper staff. The last straw ! Ordered 4 Pizzas and an order of breadsticks online. Sent my son to pickup the order, upon arrival we had 3 pizzas and an empty box. Called to speak with the manager about this who rudely said, you’re calling because you have an empty box? I proceeded to tell Zach again the purpose of my call. Was told to shut up while he pulled up my order so he could understand my problem. Asked me to tell him what I have besides an empty box. Once he caught on, offered to make the breadsticks if I wanted to come pick them up not mentioning my pizza. I again told him I’m missing a pizza as well as the breadsticks he said he could have them ready in 10 minutes if I wanted to pick them up or they could give me a credit for my next order, or issue the difference back to my card . This is not the first time I’ve placed an order and got home with the wrong thing or they’ve called and canceled my order because they were out of something. Very poor customer service and I’ll never go back. Small town business that doesn’t care.

Update - so I received a credit for the pizza but not the breadsticks, lol. Looks like he still didn’t get...

tl; dr, Stay away.

I had originally decided to rate this place three stars the first time I came here. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they had a bad say. Well, it was a horrible experience the first time. the quality of everything (specifically, the pizza and the Philly cheese steak) was rancid. it's like they got the cheapest meats from the cheapest grocery stores possible. Everything from the pizza to the sandwich was absolutely disgusting.

but now, I went again today. I wanted to give it another try. I had determined that I would try things off of their most popular items list. My friend also ordered one of the most popular items. needless to say, I was absolutely and positively disgusted and disappointed. I spent $25 on two meals, and it was the worst experience I think I've ever had in my life.

maybe it's because I'm not from a small town, but I don't understand how the place could have such high ratings. The food was abhorrent. Then again, if you don't typically travel outside of the town, you may not know. They had a sign on the side of the building that said we don't know how...
