I have always been a huge fan of Tapatio however, I haven’t been as impressed. We went there for lunch on a Saturday and ended up paying over $25 a person which is a little ridiculous I think. I understand that rising costs are particularly hard on restaurants. However, I feel like the true problem lies in that their portion sizes are way too big, and the customers are punished for that with the high cost. I feel like Tapatio could be more successful with portion sizes cut in half for just slightly less money than what they’re charging now. I will say that the food is good but it’s not good enough to be worth over $20 per person.

I also feel looking at the menu there’s a lot of like nickel and dime-ing happening. I believe they charge an extra dollar for chips and salsa refill, $.25 charge for to go orders, and then I think they charge a credit card fee , it also says in their menu that they charge for substitution as well and all of these just come off as very tacky and redundant. I understand some of these, but I feel like the one for chips and salsa is just so out of the ordinary for a Mexican restaurant especially when their prices are already so high.

Smaller portions for slightly less money would go along ways. Building costs into the menu rather than having a bunch of fees would look...

My husband ordered food to go and I was swinging through after a long day at work to pick it up. I walked in and waited awhile to even be greeted at the door. When someone finally came up I told him I had a to go order and asked no details like my name or anything. He walked away and came back and acted like he had no idea what I was talking about. Finally a young girl walks up with a bag and says our order and one item was incorrect. I told her no we ordered “ .......” she acted irritated with me and walked away to to have the order fixed. 5 minutes goes by and she comes back and says that since she repeated the order back to my husband on the phone that we have to pay for the quesadillas on top of our correct order. I said no bc he would have NEVER ordered the quesadilla. Lol he doesn’t order that. She argued with me so I asked to speak to the manager. He came out and did the same thing and said that if we didn’t pay for it the waitress would have to. Ha.... well good, I hope she has to pay for it all now because I left that place real quick and will never be returning. Rude as hell. Go to El Sol outside of town instead. Family owned, kindest people ever. Food...

We came here on the recommendation of a friend and we're glad we did.

The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was very good with large portions.

We ordered the grilled Chimichangas. Forgive the picture, I put the lettuce and sour cream on it before the picture.

Lunch set us back $38, including the tip. Comparable to other restaurants in the Cedar Valley.

The reasons they only get 3 stars instead of 5 are...

The benches need replaced. They're worn and threadbare. With the money this place makes, keeping the place in good repair shouldn't be optional.

The restaurant needs to pay a little more attention to cleanliness. The air ducts overhead are VERY dirty and you can see where condensation has formed and dripped.

If you're looking for "garden fresh" salsa, this is not the place. The salsa is tomato sauce based, came from a can, and tastes like it.

Other than that, this place is worth a shot if you can overlook it's...

Taps is the go-to place for the locals. The food tastes great and comes in huge proportions. The staff is very friendly. The margaritas.... Theyre huge.. And let me tell you, they don't skimp on the tequila. Their small size is what many places consider a jumbo. I highly suggest the fajitas. They're amazing. They come out so fresh that the food is still hot and smoking. Also, if you're into face melting salsa, they give you chips and lava to munch on till you get your food.

Before you think we're Loco, hear us out 🤣 the chorizo queso is amazing and the BIG cheeseburger is the best that I've ate anywhere. A little guitar serenade by a youngster while waiting on our meal made our day. I can't give it enough stars for the service. Every single team member was backing each other in every way possible. This is rarely seen in hospitality these days. First visit and looking forward to coming back.
