First and foremost, the staff was very friendly.
This little hole-in-the-wall spot definitely has potential, but unfortunately, our first visit wasnât the best.
As first-timers, we found the setup a bit confusing. There wasnât any clear direction on how things worked. Thereâs a buffet area where everythingâmeats, sides, desserts, and saladâis in one place. You can dine in or do takeout, and for takeout, your plate is weighed to determine the cost. Not my favorite approach, but I know other places do it too.
We arrived around 1:30 PM and immediately ran into confusion with the buffet flow. It seemed like it was meant to be accessed from both sides, but there was only one serving spoon per dish, which forced people to walk around to grab food. The flow wasnât really followedâpeople were just cutting in from wherever to get what they wanted, which made it chaotic and uncomfortable.
To make matters worse, we were scraping the bottom of nearly every pan. It didnât seem like anyone was actively monitoring the food levels or refilling as items ran low. Because of that, I donât think we got a true taste of what this place could offer.
Flavor-wise, some dishes were over-seasoned or overcooked. I had the rice, dressing with gravy, collard greens, mac & cheese, baked chicken, cornbread, and banana pudding. The rice and baked chicken were actually really good, and the banana pudding was perfectâjust the way I like it!
Being raised on Southern cooking and having family in the area, I really want to like this place. Iâll definitely give it another try when Iâm back in town, because I still believe it has great potential if a few things are...
Read moreThis review is 11 days past due! My family and I ate here on October the 10th, came in because my brother and I were looking for some good blue crab. Havenât been to this restaurant since they did the remodel and I was so impressed! The food was awesome, just as expected, but as a whole totally exceeded our expectations! Our server, Angelina was an absolute doll. The employees I regrettably donât remember getting their names. A lady sitting having food at the bar and another gentleman I believe worked in the kitchen were so friendly and welcoming. The owner forgive me if I get his name wrong I believe it was Daniel was super nice and made sure we were absolutely satisfied with our service and dinner selections. If you have been here before or not do yourself a favor and check them out again. I moved here from Clearwater FL. 2 years ago and canât think of a single restaurant I ever ate at that was an all-around excellent experience the way this place is! Give them a try I promise you you will be happy. My husband and I will be making them a regular place to eat out ant and looking forward to...
Read moreCame here for my friends birthday today. She had seen their postings on Facebook and everything looked delicious! That was not the case. Their menu was seafood today and to be honest the worst mussels I've had gritty and tasteless. The crayfish was undercooked and super rubbery. The fried shrimp was really greasy (who ever is in that kitchen needs to learn to drain the grease from the shrimp before serving it). Hush puppies were way too dense and not homemade. The fish was over fried, and the Clam strips were so dry and rubbery that my fiance just left them on his plate. As far as the fried chicken was concerned, it too was dry and over cooked. Now let's talk about the dessert options. Banana pudding was disgusting. It had to be the most artificial tasting "pudding " I've ever had. I don't even know what the peach cobbler was made from. All in all, it was not a good birthday dinner nor a good dining experience at all. We will not come back here until the kitchen staff acts like they care about what comes out of the kitchen. That or the owner needs better recipes or better execution of...
