Tqylor's BBQ is a modified buffet where you stand in line to select your meal, cafeteria style, and pay for it at the end. The night I was there they had fried chicken, ribs, porkchops, sausage, and about 8 different sides. Sides included mashed potatoes (which were surprisingly good) , collared greens, string beans, sweet potatoes and various other starches. The meal consists of your choice of protein and two sides. My meal came to just over $10 including an iced tea. Staff is friendly and there was plenty of seating when I was there. The fried chicken was pretty good but as you can imagine, the veggies left a lot to be desired. The place was not too crowded for a weekday evening with a steady flow of customers. The seating area is clean and decorated in a homey style. Bathrooms are clean. Be aware... breakfast service has stopped for the foreseeable future due to lack of staff. BTW, the round pancake looking food item is really some cornbread... not at all what I would have expected and with not much flavor at all. Anyway, go if you are hungry and don't mind soggy, overcooked veggies because the proteins are...
Read moreWe traveled from Augusta to taste this food, which was good. My husband order sausage, candied yams & peach cobbler; I ordered a side of hash & rice only. Attitudes of servers behind the counter that assisted us other than the cashier, were not so good. That's why they got a 3 star rating instead of a 4.
We stated that it was our 1st time visiting the establishment & the only thing we were told was " you get 1 meat & 2 sides" in a snobby tone. There was a pot that was covered up & I asked what was in the pot. The response I received with a hand on the hip, rolling eyes, & an agitated tone was "barbecue," to which I replied pulled pork or what kind of barbecue? Her response was pulled pork, & when she took the lid off, of course there was no sauce(as always) on pulled pork until the end. They sold pork chops, but the meats were never reviewed with us as they offer more than what's on display. My husband ordered sausage, candied yams & peach cobbler; I ordered a side of hash & rice only. I'm hoping this young woman was just having a bad day & this is not an indicator of her normal demeanor....
Read moreThis is a PSA...This is not a BBQ restaurant. This is a soul food/cafeteria. There is no smoker, and unlike any southern bbq restaurant I have ever been to. The food was pretty good, but the servers acted disengaged, borderline rude and did not show any southern hospitality. I live in Memphis. I am not one to say bbq has to be pork and has to be just like Memphis style bbq to be authentic. I like different styles of bbq. However, the food is served cafeteria style. They had fried chicken, fried porkchops, fried fish, baked chicken, sausage and what they called bbq pork and bbq hash??? The sides were mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, black eyed peas, sweet potatoes, mac n cheese, collard greens, rice and corn. I tried the bbq pork and fried chicken. The pork tasted like it was baked or cooked in a crock pot, sauce mixed in, and then sauce poured on top too. It was ok, but there was no smoky flavor. The fried chicken was crispy and fried properly, but the oil was dirty and left a nasty taste. They did give us large portions, and it was priced fair. Overall it was ok,...
